June 28, 2023Last Wednesday’s MLB Same Game Parlays ended up 1-2 over at PointsBet Sportsbook due to losing the coin flip with the Boston Red Sox who went on to lose in extras against the Twins. Garrett Whitlock did his job and deserved to log the dub. One horrendous inning from Sandy Alcantara – who still threw seven innings – destroyed our position on the under which was a shame considering Gausman went over his pitching outs prop. The Cubs cashed the only SGP of the day after taking the wood to Rich Hill and the Buccos. Here’s to reeling in some green on Hump Day’s slate – SLAM YOUR MAN!!

Washington Nationals vs. Seattle Mariners
I have no clue how the first two games of this series will play out. The M’s have lost each of Luis Castillo’s four June starts, and the second game between Jake Irvin and Bryan Woo could be a barnburner. What I do know is that a good amount of time remains in the MLB betting season for the M’s to make a run, but they better start doing it sooner rather than later with it 9.5-games back and nothing more than an afterthought in the AL West pennant race. The pitching and defense is simply just too good for this team to find it in that position. It’s high-time the offense steps up and today will offer up an excellent opportunity to swing freely with Patrick Corbin and his bloated 5.32 ERA set to take the bump. The Mariners have preferred LHP to RHP with it averaging 5.0 runs per game (.701 OPS) against the former and 4.3 runs per game (.691 OPS) against the latter. With Logan Gilbert in a groove and allowing three or fewer earned runs in eight of his last nine starts, Seattle should cruise to victory in the finale of this series provided Julio Rodriguez and his mates start earning their pay checks.

San Diego Padres vs. Pittsburgh Pirates
As bad 2023 has been for the Mariners, it’s been even worse for San Diego who’s spending 1.7x more in salary to produce a nearly identical losing record. The Friars have come out victorious in just four of their last L/11 played games. However, a constant in two of those triumphs has been Blake Snell who is currently in the midst of a heater having allowed three or fewer hits and a grand total of 1 ER over his last 31 innings pitched spanning five total starts. He’s gone for 11+ strikeouts in each of his last three and now gets the pleasure of running up against a Buccos offense that owns a 25.0 percent K rate against LHP. Opposing Snell will be right-hander Mitch Keller who is currently in the midst of a breakout campaign having gone 8-3 with a 3.45 ERA that’s supported by an even better 3.27 FIP. He’s only allowing a 20.3 percent hard contact rate (No. 7) and is the owner of an insane 113:26 K/BB ratio. Both players’ pages at Pitchers List is flashing red! So long as walks don’t get the best of Snell, this has pitcher’s duel written all over it with both hurlers looking to one-up the other.

Miami Marlins vs. Boston Red Sox
As it stands right now, the Red Sox are undecided about whom they’ll send to the hill to throw against the Marlins in the second game of this series. It would’ve been “The Big Maple” had James Paxton not left his start early over the weekend in Chicago with a knee ailment. I bet Boston takes every precaution necessary so as to not let this injury turn into something bigger, so it wouldn’t shock me in the least if an arm was either called up or brought out of the pen to make this spot start. It doesn’t matter to me in the grand scheme of things as dominant Braxton Garrett has been since the calendar turned to June in conceding 16 hits (1 HR) and 6 ER with a dominating 36:2 K/BB ratio. The dramatic turnaround has seen the Fish cash in against the baseball odds in each of his last five starts, and I’m betting that streak continues with Miami in a good spot to take this series owning what I deem to be the starting pitching advantage throughout. Look for another quality showing from Garrett, a Soler Bomb over the Monster, and for Luis Arraez to continue his historic march towards .400!
