May 30, 2023We went 2-1 with last Tuesday’s MLB Same Game Parlays to beef up our bankroll over at BetRivers Sportsbook. Rich Hill just came up short of his pitching outs prop, while the Texas Rangers hammered another lefty to surpass their team total with ease. Runs dented the board as expected with Adam Wainwright squaring off against Graham Ashcraft which led to the over, STL over, and Cincy over all cashing in. Had Sonny Gray logged two more outs in his start against the Giants, we would’ve swept the board with the F5 under and Cobb over pitching outs coming in with relative ease. Let’s get back in the black with tonight’s assortment of parlay picks – SLAM YOUR MAN!!
Bet Major League Baseball at BetRivers Sportsbook
Tampa Bay Rays vs. Chicago Cubs
Though my Cubs rate out as one of the best teams in baseball against left-handed pitching (No. 3), Shane McClanahan is an animal unlike any David Ross’ lineup will have faced to date. The Rays’ staff ace is making a serious run at the AL Cy Young Award in going an unblemished 8-0 with a sterling 1.97 ERA and 75:25 K/BB ratio. The southpaw is serving up just 6.6 hits per nine innings and enters this tilt having gone seven innings in each of his last two starts while allowing just 10 hits and 1 ER while holding the opposition to a paltry .202 batting average against. Runs will be tough to come by for Chicago even though it averages 6+ runs per game against southpaws. That makes it much more palatable to lay the run-line in this contest with the Cubs set to send Kyle Hendricks to the bump for his second start. “The Professor” was just rocked for six hits and five runs (3 ER) in his 2023 debut with his stuff nowhere close to being as dominant as it once was. Randy Arozarena and the Rays top-ranked offense are going to have a field day in this one! It’s a shame McClanahan got pushed back a day. It would’ve been much better cinema watching him square off against Marcus Stroman.

Minnesota Twins vs. Houston Astros
Huge pitching advantage on the starting bump for the Twinkies with Joe Ryan set to square off against Brandon Bielak in the second game of this three game set. Ryan has been exceptional through 10 starts going 7-1 with a 2.21 ERA while averaging 7.1 strikeouts per walk and registering quality starts 80 percent of the time. That being said, Minnesota has gone on to lose each of his last three road starts at the Angels, Guardians, and White Sox with the righty serving up 16 hits and only five runs (4 ER) during that stretch. The Twins’ staff ace is currently in the running for the AL Cy Young Award at BetRivers (+1500), but hasn’t done much to impress in recent starts. While he’s only given up 5 ER total the last five times he took to the starting bump, he failed to pitch through the seventh inning in any of those starts. This will be his premiere litmus test. If he fails to impress, his odds of hanging with Gerrit Cole, Shane McClanahan, and Shohei Ohtani will likely take a nosedive. I believe! Houston got the pleasure of taking advantage of the A’s pitching staff in six of its last nine games. This will be a completely different ball game!

Washington Nationals vs. Los Angeles Dodgers
The Dodgers return home to the comforts of Chavez Ravine where they clock in 10-games over .500 having represented well on the east coast taking two of three from the Atlanta Braves and managing one win in a hotly contested series with the Tampa Bay Rays. Now 10-games over .500 and a plus-money team for MLB bettors overall ($325), Dave Roberts’ troops will entertain the Washington Nationals before squaring off with the Yankees over the weekend. After likely teeing off on Trevor Williams in the series opener, Freddie Freeman and co. will get the pleasure of staring back at Jake Irvin and his 5.32 ERA and 1.59 WHIP. The righty is averaging 1.19 strikeouts per walk all the while garnering a 5.1 swinging strike percentage (No. 199). LA is tied with San Diego for the top walk rate in the league which means the big bats of the Dodgers are more than likely to step into the box with ducks on the pond regularly. That’s likely to lead to hanging a crooked number which finds it adding to its already impressive showing for over bettors with it cashing in at a 31-22-1 clip. We’ve faded Irvin numerous times to date, so I have no reservations doing it once again tonight in just his second road start of 2023.
