More North Carolina Sports Betting Partnerships Announced
January 11, 2024Sunday Night Football Same Game Parlay – Rams vs. Lions
January 12, 2024With the second season of the NFL upon us Super Wild Card Weekend concludes with a Monday night NFC clash between the Philadelphia Eagles and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Eagles are hoping the second season is vastly different from how the first concluded. Locked into the NFC’s top seed about two months ago, they closed by losing five of their final six contests while going 0-6 against the NFL betting line. The free fall cost Philly not only the top seed but also the NFC East crown thus putting them on the road for this first round playoff matchup.
Oddsmakers over at BetRivers sportsbook aren’t too concerned, though, positioning Philly as a 3-point NFL betting pick favorite. The regular season matchup between the clubs in Week 3 didn’t get a lot of attention. The Eagles prevailed in that contest, 25-11, covering the 5.5-point closing NFL betting line while holding the Bucs to 174 total yards and 12 first downs. Philly’s defense soured down the stretch, though, giving up an average of over 30 points during the season-closing skid.
Tampa isn’t getting much respect entering the postseason as the only team with fewer than 10 wins. They survived the worst division in the NFL winning their third straight NFC South title with a record of just 9-8, but they were a profitable bunch with 11 payouts in 17 games. They overtook their division foes by winning five of their final six games, including a 9-0 blanking of Carolina in the season finale when a loss would have left them out of the postseason. The NFL playoffs bring an expanded betting menu giving us plenty of opportunities to hit a same-game parlay.

I think Philadelphia’s issues run much deeper than most realize. They really stunk over the final six games and an attempt to use the finale against the Giants as a get-it-right game backfired. Not only did the Eagles lose they were also dealt a few injury concerns. Jalen Hurts busted up a finger on his throwing hand and A.J. Brown messed up a hamstring. If those guys can play I’m sure they’ll be on the field Monday night, but just how effective are they going to be?
I’m not ready to give up on the Eagles just yet, though. They have faced adversity the last two months and haven’t shown that they’re overcoming the obstacles. But this is the playoffs and things change in a one-and-done scenario. Tampa Bay hasn’t been overwhelming and they were gifted a final game against Carolina in a must-win situation. They won but failed to score a touchdown against the NFL’s worst team and saw Baker Mayfield sustain a rib injury that affected his ability to lead the offense.
One thing to always consider at this time of year is the weather. We expect less than favorable conditions in places like Buffalo, but a January playoff game in Florida shouldn’t have to worry, right? Well, according to early forecasts there is rain on the way giving teams a chance to flex their muscle in the run game. Having D’Andre Swift back would definitely help the Eagles. Swift led the team with 1,049 yards during the season with one of his two 100-yard games coming in Week 3 when he scampered for 130 yards on 16 carries against the Bucs. I’m hesitant to back Philly but my NFL betting picks has them minus the points and UNDER the total of 44 in a same-game parlay.
In order to spice up the NFL parlay I’m going to add another wager on the ticket. With less than ideal conditions to throw the football I’m not counting on Mayfield and the Bucs to have much success. At BetRivers sportsbook you can pick one of several passing yard totals to bet on – the lower the total the better the odds. Mayfield had just 137 passing yards in pristine conditions in Carolina last week and totaled 146 yards in the Week 3 loss to the Eagles. Toss in a rib injury and I’ll back the UNDER on a passing yard total 224.5 to complete my NFL wager. A $100 investment on this three-team NFL same-game parlay at BetRivers has a nice $560 payout.
Eagles -3
Eagles / Bucs UNDER 44
Baker Mayfield UNDER 224.5 Passing Yards
