MLB Same Game Parlay Picks, Odds & Predictions – Monday, May 6
May 3, 2024Saturday, May 4 NBA Playoff Parlay Picks
May 3, 2024Before the season commenced, I recommended investing in Shohei Ohtani (+800), Cody Bellinger (+5000), and Ke’Bryan Hayes (+20000) as potential winners of the NL MVP Award at Caesars Sportsbook. Among the trio, Ohtani’s odds have remained steady, while Bellinger’s have increased to +7000 due to injury, and Hayes’ have dropped to 85-1. Currently, based on the available odds, Mookie Betts appears poised to secure his second MVP Award after finishing as the runner-up in the previous season’s voting. The versatile standout for the Dodgers has enjoyed an impressive start to the year, but with plenty of baseball left to play, this market remains dynamic and open. Let’s analyze the potential returns on investment and consider taking some calculated risks to potentially boost our bankroll by the end of the regular season.

Elly De La Cruz +1000
I made the grave mistake of underestimating Elly De La Cruz at the season’s outset. Reflecting on his struggles towards the end of the previous season and influenced by respected pundits who doubted his potential, I overlooked the young phenom for the Reds when he was offering up a healthy 75-1 return on investment. Now, I find myself regretting that decision as the 22-year-old is excelling, boasting a .280 batting average, .579 slugging percentage, and impressive .968 OPS. Additionally, he ranks 16th in total bases (62), leads the league in stolen bases (18), has recorded 19 RBIs, and launched eight home runs (#5) into the cheap seats, averaging a home run every 13.4 at-bats.
Despite leading the league in fielding errors (6), he’s showcased his defensive prowess and possesses one of the best arms in the league. Even if he falls short of overtaking Mookie Betts, De La Cruz’s continued growth suggests he will be a strong contender for awards in the future. Moreover, with the Reds likely to remain competitive in the NL Central pennant race throughout the season, De La Cruz could still make a run for the MVP award in 2024 and is still worth taking a flier on at his reduced 10-1 offering.
Marcell Ozuna +4000
In a lineup boasting talents like Ronald Acuna Jr., Ozzie Albies, Freddie Freeman, Matt Olson, and Austin Riley, it’s the 33-year-old veteran outfielder who has caught my attention the most. Despite the impressive roster, the Atlanta Braves entered May with 20 wins in their first 29 games, and it’s Marcell Ozuna who stands out with his impressive performance at the plate. With a batting average of .321, Ozuna leads the team in slugging percentage (.624) and on-base percentage (.403), serving as a stabilizing force in Atlanta’s lineup while some of their other key hitters struggle to find their form from the previous season.
Although Ozuna has never been a serious contender for the MVP award in the past, with the closest being the shortened 2020 COVID season where he received the sixth most votes, his odds for this year’s award have already dropped from 160-1 to 40-1. In my view, he has been one of the premier outfielders in the game for the last handful of years and appears to be fully focused and determined after putting his off-field issues behind him. If more of what he dished out throughout April spills over into the next five months of play, it’ll be impossible for voters to not give him the attention and respect those statistical outputs demand.
Alec Bohm +4500
The City of Brotherly Love has had a tumultuous relationship with Alec Bohm since his MLB debut in 2020. While he showed promise last season with a .274 batting average, 97 RBIs, and 20 home runs, his performance this season has been nothing short of exceptional. Bohm is one of only two players to have amassed 30 RBIs so far, boasting impressive statistics across the board with a .362 batting average, .432 on-base percentage, .586 slugging percentage, and a remarkable 1.018 OPS over 132 plate appearances.
Having finished as the runner-up in the Rookie of the Year award voting in 2020, Bohm was highly regarded as one of the top prospects in the Phillies’ farm system. Currently, only the Braves and Dodgers have shorter odds to win the National League pennant at Caesars Sportsbook, with the Phillies also positioned as +325 favorites to conquer the NL East, trailing behind the Braves. Personally, I believe the Phillies have the edge over the Braves. If this proves true and Bohm continues to rake while contributing significantly to the team’s success, he will undoubtedly be a strong contender for postseason awards.
