Calvin Austin III’s explosive plays lifted the Pittsburgh Steelers to a 26-18 margin victory over the New York Giants to close out the Week 8 betting slate. Mike Tomlin’s pep talk inspired the undersized receiver, who returned a punt 73 yards for a touchdown—forget about the penalty that should’ve been called after NY’s punter was wiped out—and caught a 29-yard TD pass, sparking Pittsburgh’s offense. The Steelers improved to 6-2 SU and ATS, winning their 22nd straight home Monday night game and heading into their bye as Kings of the AFC North. Russell Wilson threw for 278 yards, and Najee Harris added another 114 on the ground to lead the Steelers to the NFL odds win and cover. Defensive standouts T.J. Watt and rookie Beanie Bishop delivered crucial turnovers late to preserve the win. Despite rookie Tyrone Tracy’s season-high 145 rushing yards, the Giants (2-6) struggled with penalties, turnovers, and missed assignments. QB Daniel Jones threw for 264 yards but was once plagued by miscues, including a late interception that sealed the deal for anyone holding a GMEN + ticket hoping Dimes could find a way to kick in the back door.
Watching the New York Giants squander numerous chances to win—and cover—in the Week 8 installment of Monday Night Football was nothing short of painful. Giants +6 bettors deserved better. Deadlocked in a gritty 9-9 battle, the refs seemingly swallowed their whistle and allowed a punt return for a score stay on the board even though Matt Haack was roughed on the play. Along with Pittsburgh finally getting ahead of the spread at the 4:38 mark of the third quarter, it wiped away any shot of Malik Nabers scoring the game’s first touchdown after coming a toe tap away from doing so in the first half. Though he didn’t go for the 10+ receptions touted, he did end up exceeding his 6.5-recpetions on a game-high 13 targets after getting peppered as expected. Daniel Jones exceeded his passing yards and attempts props at Caesars Sportsbook, but he sleeps with the fishes in by book. The defense gave him two opportunities in the closing minutes to cash our +6 tickets, but he got strip sacked while standing flatfooted and clueless in the pocket, and followed it up by throwing his second pick of the game. As Joe Pesci said when playing the role of Vincent Gambini in the movie My Cousin Vinny, “I’m done with this guy!”
New York Giants vs. Pittsburgh Steelers Same Game Parlay Picks, Odds & Predictions
The Pittsburgh Steelers were so impressive in last Sunday night’s comeback win over the New York Jets that ESPN immediately got on the phone and demanded Mike Tomlin’s squad grace their airwaves in the Week 8 betting showdown against the New York Giants. All kidding aside, that’s the reality for this week’s installment of Monday Night Football that will boast primetime “Danny Dimes” with the GMEN attempting to prevent Russell Wilson from cooking for the second time in as many weeks. NFL bettors are buying into it going down hook, line, and sinker as well with the “Terrible Towels” talking in a healthy 80+ percent of the bets and money pushing the NFL odds up to 6 from the 4-point opener. The total has moved in line with Pittsburgh taking care of business as well with 70+ percent of the tickets and nearly 90% of the handle expecting points to be tough to come by pushing the O/U down to 36.5 at .
Reduced juice betting is one of the best ways for any sports bettor to save money and far too many people don’t take advantage of it. If you are not playing at a sportsbook that offers reduced juice betting then you are simply giving away money.
New York Giants vs. Pittsburgh Steelers NFL Same Game Parlay:
The stars aligned in the Steel City last Sunday night! Though Tomlin’s troops fell into an early 15-6 hole and it looked like the game could get away even further right before the half, questionable decision-making from the Jets paired with the defense stepping up when needed most ultimately swung the momentum and allowed for the home team to continue setting the pace atop the AFC North standings. Pittsburgh would go on to score the game’s final 31 points which has everything right with the offense, right? I mean come on, the Steelers have put 30+ points on the board for the first time since the heydays of the Big Ben era and George Pickens is him!
I’m selling the noise, but NFL bettors are definitely buying and attacking this tilt with the Steelers lined 6-point regular season favorites for only the second time since 2021. Care to know what happened the first time? Pittsburgh got its salad tossed by the Arizona Cardinals en route to falling by a 24-10 final count. The Steelers simply just aren’t built to cover NFL betting lines like this. It’s a grinder that takes what opposing defenses give them, and capitalizes off the short fields the defense grants them whenever able. While that will certainly be in the cards tonight with Daniel Jones no stranger to turning the ball over—6:4 TD/INT ratio + 2 fumbles—the Giants’ QB1 has always performed better away from MetLife Stadium than within it. I expect that trend to play out tonight as well.
He’s thrown for at least 205 yards in his two previous primetime starts against the Cowboys and Bengals, and while Pittsburgh has done a fantastic job shutting down opposing running games (#3), its pass D has been penetrable with the unit serving up 217 yards per game (#22) and 6.6 yards per pass attempt (#20). After Malik Nabers was popping off to the media in last week’s postgame presser after the GMEN combined for 119 total yards against the Eagles, I fully expect the rookie WR1 to be peppered with targets and for the LSU product to make some hay with the pigskin once they’re reeled in. But it won’t just be Nabers that proves to be a beneficiary in this one. Wan’Dale Robinson and Darius Slayton will be heavily involved as well with New York likely to bypass the running game altogether in hopes of keeping the pressure on all game long.
Sure, Russell Wilson threw for 264 yards and 2:0 TD/INT ratio, but did so against a Jets defense that simply didn’t show up. Dexter Lawrence and the GMEN will prove to be an entirely different animal looking to make an impact for the entire nation to see. I’ll pay up to see if Russ can do it again, but I’m betting he won’t and will throw the interception we banked on last week this time around. Either way, Caesars comes out of this one grinning from ear-to-ear with Daboll’s troops giving Pittsburgh a much tougher test than their customer base envisions.
