October 8, 2024New York Jets vs. Minnesota Vikings Same Game Parlay Picks, Odds & Predictions Recap
The London tilt played out almost identically to the rugged defensive battle I envisioned with the Minnesota Vikings upending the New York Jets by a 23-17 final count to keep their unblemished record intact. I pontificated that the first team to hit the 20-point plateau would be in a position to win the game. That proved to be the case with Kevin O’Connell’s troops pulling off the feat even though it only scored one offensive touchdown and needed Will Reichard to be perfect with his leg after the rookie converted all three of his field goal attempts. His final attempt, with just over three minutes remaining in the game, allowed us to cash the over of the Vikings 21.5-point team total. If only Minnesota’s lone offensive touchdown went to Justin Jefferson, we would’ve gone on to cash all three legs of this recommended same-game parlay.
In all honesty, we were lucky to cash in with the Vikings on the moneyline. It took a rare three interception showing from Aaron Rodgers to get the job done—one of which was returned the other way for six points. When the dust cleared—or maybe I should say the rain stopped—New York outgained the Vikings 254-253 with the team’s each racking up 17 first downs and both offenses having major issues moving the chains on third down. The Jets defense also helped produce Sam Darnold’s worst showing under center as a Viking. Had Rodgers not thrown his third and final interception nearing the Vikings red zone with 49 ticks left, it’s certainly within the realm of possibility that New York took home the money on the NFL odds at BetMGM Sportsbook. I warned of Robert Saleh potentially losing the locker room if the Jets lost. Turns out, he ended up losing more than that…
New York Jets vs. Minnesota Vikings Same Game Parlay Picks, Odds & Predictions
NFL Sunday kicks off in London where the undefeated Minnesota Vikings will tango with the New York Jets in one of the better match-ups the over the seas crowd has been privy to in recent NFL betting seasons. Kevin O’Connell’s troops remained perfect last week after getting up big and being forced to hold on for dear life in Green Bay, while Robert Saleh’s squad took an inexcusable home loss against a Denver Broncos outfit it was favored to beat by 8.5-points per the closing NFL odds.
You can place a bet right now at BetMGM Sportsbook on a rematch of this matchup happening in Super Bowl LIX, with a potential payout of 80-1 if it becomes a reality! Having said that, the lookahead NFL odds for this Week 5 non-conference showdown hit the board with the Jets laying 2.5-points and the Over/Under (O/U) set at 42. Due to Minnesota ousting the Packers and the Jets shockingly failing to defend its turf, the Vikings are now installed 2.5-point favorites with 82% of the bets support. However, it’s the Jets that have taken in a whopping 80% of the money indicating a clear divide within the NFL betting public. The O/U has also seen reverse line movement with the target down to 40.5 regardless of the over being backed with 80+ percent of the tickets and handle.
Reduced juice betting is one of the best ways for any sports bettor to save money and far too many people don’t take advantage of it. If you are not playing at a sportsbook that offers reduced juice betting then you are simply giving away money.

New York Jets vs. Minnesota Vikings NFL Same Game Parlay:
I’m not exactly sure a loss to what looks to be a much better Denver team than the NFL betting public has given Sean Payton credit for is enough to force such drastic line movement in this matchup. Sure, the Vikings have been fantastic to start the year with wins logged against the Giants, 49ers, Texans, and Packers, but let us remember, linemakers had the Jets installed favorites to win this game before last week played out. Also let us not forget how last week’s win on the frozen tundra almost got away from Minnesota regardless of getting out to a commanding 28-0 lead. I’m curious as to how it would’ve ultimately played out had it not been Jordan Love’s first game returning from injury. He still went on to carve Brian Flores’ blitz-happy defense up for 389 passing yards and 4 TD in the secondary’s worst showing of the young season.
With the elements the Jets were forced to deal with in last week’s home loss, I’d argue that any team would’ve been susceptible to an upset. Don’t make the mistake of reading too much into the prior week’s results. New York is still a bona fide AFC title contender (11-1) that sports what I believe to be one of the more balanced offensive attacks in the league regardless of the unit not getting out to the greatest of starts. Aaron Rodgers and his weapons are still kicking off the rust trying to build a rapport with one another. But that’s just it! Minnesota isn’t a team you want to take on right now when not playing at an optimum level. New York’s offensive line is banged up and the linebacker core is missing key pieces—not good!
All said, I believe the Jets’ coaching staff is a major issue from top to bottom. While Robert Saleh has been dealt a terrible hand, he has yet to impress me as a head coach. As for Nathaniel Hackett, I’ve spoken before about how his coaching performances have been subpar—he’s a liability and drains money from any franchise that hires him. In contrast, Kevin O’Connell and his staff have earned respect. When O’Connell speaks, his players listen, and Minnesota operates as a tight-knit group. With this being a shot at redemption for Sam Darnold, I expect the Vikings to bring their best to London and position themselves to stay undefeated. The Jets’ best showing so far was against an outmatched New England Patriots squad, but if they put forth another poor effort after last week’s embarrassment, it’s hard to imagine the coaching staff keeping control of the locker room, assuming they haven’t already lost it. I want to believe the Jets can live up to their current futures odds, but I need to see them prove it—especially against top-tier competition—before I buy in.
