Well, I ended up being right about a team hanging a big number in the Sunday night matchup between the New York Jets and Pittsburgh Steelers. Unfortunately, it didn’t end up being the one we backed on the NFL odds with Russell Wilson putting a charge into the home team’s attack enough to hang 32 points on a reeling Jets defense. It certainly didn’t look like it would play out like that early on with Aaron Rodgers and Breece Hall seemingly doing as they pleased through the first 25+ minutes of the game. The latter scored the game’s first touchdown with 2:27 remaining in the first quarter to get New York out to its first lead of the game, while the latter threw what would prove to be his only touchdown pass to Tyler Conklin to push it out to 15-6.
After the defense forced a three and out, New York took possession of the ball back with 3:10 remaining in the half looking to add on and take complete control of the match with the Jets getting the ball first following halftime. Then out of nowhere, Beanie Bishop came up with an unreal interception with New York on the move to completely swing the momentum of the game. Five plays later, Wilson threw the first of his three touchdown passes to George Pickens. The Jets did nothing with their opening possession of the second half, and then after the defense got a stop, Rodgers would throw his second interception of the night on a pass that bounced off Garrett Wilson’s chest and into the waitful arms of, you guessed it, Beanie Bishop. A play later, Wilson plunged into the end zone from a yard out and it was all done but the crying.
The Jets failed to win, didn’t exceed its 19.5-point team total even though it had 15 points on the board with 35+ minutes of game time remaining, and the defense failed to come up with an interception of Wilson in his season debut. Rodgers went over his 226.5 passing yards prop to prevent us from hanging a goose egg at PROLINE+—UPPERCASE YAY!!
New York Jets vs. Pittsburgh Steelers Same Game Parlay Picks, Odds & Predictions
The Week 7 installment of Sunday Night Football takes NFL bettors to Acrisure Stadium where the New York Jets will be out to put an end to a three-game losing streak against a Pittsburgh Steelers squad that for one reason or another has decided to make a change under center regardless of entering this tilt tied atop the AFC North standings with the Baltimore Ravens. Fresh off firing their head coach, the Jets continued being the Jets and lost a game they just as easily could’ve won at home against the Buffalo Bills. Pittsburgh meanwhile went into the desert and tallied their highest point tally of the NFL betting season en route to skunking the Las Vegas Raiders by a 32-13 final count.
The lookahead NFL odds for this SNF tilt hit the board with the Steelers lined short 1-point home favorites and the Over/Under (O/U) set at 37. Due to roster changes for both teams, New York now finds itself 1.5-point road chalk by way of taking in nearly 70 percent of the money over at . It marks the second time this season that the Jets will have laid points away from MetLife Stadium—they logged the 24-17 win and cover as 4-point favorites at Tennessee back in Week 2. Total bettors seem to be of the belief the swap of Russell Wilson for Justin Fields puts a jolt into the Pittsburgh offense enough to the point that the totals market corrected 1.5-points to 38.5 with upwards of 80% of the total handle in favor of the line move.
Reduced juice betting is one of the best ways for any sports bettor to save money and far too many people don’t take advantage of it. If you are not playing at a sportsbook that offers reduced juice betting then you are simply giving away money.
New York Jets vs. Pittsburgh Steelers NFL Same Game Parlay:
I’m not one to question any decision Mike Tomlin makes. The dude has gone out and secured 17 straight non-losing seasons as head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers. However, I was truly taken aback when I heard he was making the move to Russell Wilson under center in place of Justin Fields. I mean seriously, what else do you have to do in this league to hold onto a QB1 job. I get that the offense has been a tough watch with it ranked 26th overall while scoring fewer than 21 points per game (#20). However, isn’t the ultimate goal of the starting quarterback to win games?
Sorry, but Wilson looked cooked last season in leading the Denver Broncos to a sub .500-record, and his days of evading pressure are all but gone evidenced by being thrown to the turf with regularity a season ago playing behind a poor offensive line. While improved, Pittsburgh’s front wall has been decimated by injuries to this point of the NFL betting season. Wouldn’t it make just a wee bit more sense to have the more spry guy back there to make something out of nothing once things break down? Also completely eliminated from the equation will be the rushing yardage Fields was able to produce with his legs. That most certainly will come into play tonight with the Jets averaging 3.3 sacks per game (#4) and the Steelers serving up 2.7 (#19).
Pittsburgh enters this tilt owners of the league’s 13th ranked pass defense. However, it can be argued that Joey Porter Jr. and his secondary mates are yet to run up against an above average passing attack. It got the benefit of a rusty Kirk Cousins still gelling with his receivers in Week 1, and then rookie Bo Nix making his home debut for the Broncos the following week. After that, they took on the run-oriented Chargers in their home opener in a game Justin Herbert was working on one leg. Then it was onto Indianapolis where Joe Flacco came in cold off the bench and threw for 168 yards and 2 TD in relief of an injured Anthony Richardson. The stiffest challenge of the year came immediately after against Dallas at home with Mother Nature playing a role throughout—Dak Prescott still went on to throw for 352 yards and 2 TD in the driving rain. Do I really need to go into detail about last week’s assignment, Aidan O’Connell?
The point I’m trying to make here is that Aaron Rodgers and his newly configured pass catching corps will enter this game hot after dropping another game they should’ve won armed with the most balanced offense Pittsburgh will be forced to run up against to date. With the coaching shakeup, New York nearly went for four spins worth of yardage last week with No. 8 throwing for 294 yards and 2 TD and Breece Hall combining for 169 scrimmage yards. The uptick in offensive output paired with Pittsburgh inexplicably making the quarterback change leads me to believe this is one of the best buy-low spots NFL bettors will have a chance to take advantage of all season long. I foresee the Jets hanging a big number with Davante Adams seamlessly fitting in and Wilson stinking up the joint should he even last a full four quarters!
