NFL Offensive Player of the Year Odds and Picks

Once a near-guaranteed accolade for quarterbacks, the Offensive Player of the Year (OPOY) Award has recently gone the way of position players. Christian McCaffrey became the fifth consecutive non-quarterback to take home bragging rights, thanks to his standout 2023-24 season toting the rock for the San Francisco 49ers. He amassed over 2,000 scrimmage yards and scored a career-high 21 touchdowns, delighting his prop and fantasy supporters. With the 49ers’ offense largely unchanged and McCaffrey expected to have another heavy workload in his age-28 season, he enters the 2024-25 NFL betting season favored to win the OPOY Award a second straight time. If he succeeds, he would be the first to win it in back-to-back campaigns since Marshall Faulk did so at the turn of the century.

Amon-Ra St. Brown +1400

The “Sun God” is currently in his prime as he enters his age-25 season. After achieving career highs in receiving yardage (1,515), receptions (119), and touchdowns (10) last season, he is poised to surpass those numbers once again in his fourth year as Motown’s WR1. Detroit has made significant progress under Dan Campbell’s leadership, steadily improving over the past two seasons. 

The offense, spearheaded by Amon-Ra St. Brown, remains the team’s strong suit. His 1,500+ receiving yards ranked third behind only CeeDee Lamb and Tyreek Hill a season ago. He shares excellent chemistry with Jared Goff, and I anticipate the duo will continue to excel, contributing to Detroit’s formidable passing attack week after week putting him in a position to take home some hardware come the conclusion of the NFL betting season.

Jahmyr Gibbs +2500

Although his fantasy owners might have hoped for more opportunities for Jahmyr Gibbs in his rookie season, the coaching staff eased him into action, giving a glimpse of his potential towards the end of the season. I was very impressed with what No. 26 showcased and will be targeting him heavily in my home league fantasy draft, as well as in the props market each week. 

Despite being on the short side of the timeshare with David Montgomery, Gibbs turned his 182 carries into 945 rushing yards, averaging 5.2 yards per carry behind one of the league’s best offensive lines. He also contributed 316 receiving yards. Overall, the Alabama product scored 11 touchdowns, and I fully expect him to take on a larger workload in year two of his professional career.

Derrick Henry +3000

The Ravens boasted the league’s top-ranked rushing attack last season, averaging 156.5 yards per game and 5.0 yards per carry (#3). They also led the NFL in rushing attempts with 31.5 per game. Consequently, Derrick Henry couldn’t have picked a better place to conclude his career than in “Charm City,” with Lamar Jackson at quarterback and a top-10 offensive line paving the way. 

Despite Tennessee’s offensive line being one of the worst last season, Henry still surpassed 1,000 rushing yards for the fifth time in his career and scored double-digit touchdowns for the sixth consecutive year. If he stays healthy and the offensive line remains intact, this could be a special season for No. 22.

Isiah Pacheco +10000

Despite the Chiefs’ offense underperforming in several areas during the regular season, it still did enough to secure back-to-back Super Bowl victories. Isiah Pacheco played a significant role, even though Kansas City’s rushing attack was below average, averaging only 104.9 yards per game (#19) and 4.3 yards per carry (#12). 

With the addition of key players like Hollywood Brown and rookie Xavier Worthy to bolster Patrick Mahomes’ receiving options, Pacheco will have a chance to shine as defenses focus more on the improved passing game. With no notable running backs added this offseason and enhanced offensive line depth, the backfield is set for Pacheco to dominate and exceed expectations significantly.

George Pickens +15000

Despite having lackluster quarterback options last season, George Pickens still managed to surpass 1,000 receiving yards for the first time in his career. The former Georgia Bulldog caught 63 passes for 1,140 yards, averaging a career-best 18.1 yards per reception. With Diontae Johnson no longer on the roster, his 51 receptions will need to be redistributed among the remaining players and new additions. I anticipate that a significant portion will go to No. 14, whether it’s Russell Wilson or Justin Fields navigating the offense.
