August 22, 2024NFL Preseason Week 3 Picks Recap – Thursday, August 22-Sunday August 25, 2024
It was a winning preseason for us with the NFL Preseason picks, as we came out in the black in every single week. The underdogs parlay was a rousing success, winning in all three weeks. It was an underdog parlay of the Raiders plus the points against the 49ers and the Saints plus the points against the Titans that led us in Week 3, as we made a small profit once again.
NFL Preseason Week 3 Favorites Parlay Recap
The first half of the favorites parlay was an easy winner, as the Broncos dominated the Cardinals from start to finish, winning 38-12. Denver was a good team for us during the preseason and they may be better than some people think this season. The second half of the parlay lost. The Sunday night game between New England and Washington had the Patriots playing their starters, while the Commanders rested theirs, but New England is a bad team and other than a couple of good drives from rookie QB Drake Maye, they did little on offense and lost 20-10.
NFL Preseason Week 3 Underdogs Parlay
In the underdog parlay it was the Raiders covering as 5-point underdogs in a 24-24 tie with the 49ers. The 49ers led 17-14 at the half but the Raiders scored first in the second half to lead 21-17. The 49ers scored late in the third quarter to take the lead back at 24-21 but Daniel Carlson hit a 43-yard field with just second remaining to tie the game. The other half of the parlay saw the Saints cover the 3.5-poitnt spread against the Titans. It was a very evenly played game that had Tennessee winning 13-10 at the half and 16-13 at the end of three quarters. It was a wild fourth quarter with each team scoring twice and the Saints ended up losing 30-27, but covering the 3.5-point number.
NFL Preseason Week 3 Line Moves Parlay
The line move parlay failed once again, going 1-1. The Steelers jumped out to a 14-0 lead but the lead didn’t last and the game was tied at the half. It was an ugly second half with neither team doing much and the Lions ended up winning 24-17. The other half of the parlay was a winner, as the Panthers outscored the Bills, winning 31-26. The final score made the game look closer than it actually was, as the Panthers led 31-19 before a late Buffalo touchdown with under two minutes left made the final 31-26.

NFL Preseason Week 3 Favorites Parlay
Denver Broncos (-4.5) vs. Arizona Cardinals
I like what the Broncos have done in the off-season, as they look to be vastly improved, especially at quarterback. Bo Nix figures to be the starter and at least the Broncos have some depth behind him. The Cardinals haven’t played many starters in the preseason and that doesn’t figure to change in this one. I’ll lay the points and take the Broncos as the first favorite.
New England Patriots (-5.5) at Washington Commanders
The Patriots were not thought to have a quarterback battle, but Jacoby Brissett has not played well in the preseason and rookie Drake Maye has looked good. Both should be ready for a good game in this one. The Commanders are not playing their starters so the Patriots have the edge.
NFL Preseason Week 3 Underdogs Parlay
Las Vegas Raiders +5 vs. San Francisco 49ers
The 49ers have not looked good in the preseason but I don’t see them risking starters for long in this game against the Raiders. Las Vegas did announce that Garnder Minshew won the starting quarterback job, but Aidan O’Connell will still want to play well, as the leash on Minshew in the regular season will be short. I’ll take the points with the Raiders.
New Orleans Saints +3.5 vs. Tennessee Titans
I think everyone has overreacted a bit to Tennessee announcing they would play their starters in this game. Head coach Brian Callahan did say he wants his starters to get playing time, but at most only for three series. And it is not like Will Levis is that good a starting quarterback anyway, plus the Titans have a lot of defensive injuries so some starters won’t play. The Saints have some decent quarterback depth and there is a battle going on between Jake Haener and Spencer Rattler for the backup job. I’ll take the Saints plus the points.
NFL Preseason Week 3 Line Moves Parlay
Pittsburgh Steelers (-6.5) at Detroit Lions
The Steelers opened as a 2-point favorite in this game and the number is up to 6.5. The Steelers have to decide on who will start the season at quarterback so it is a huge game for Russell Wilson and Justin Fields. The Lions just want to stay healthy for the regular season.
Carolina Panthers (-2.5) at Buffalo Bills
The Bills opened as a 4.5-point favorite but now the Panthers are laying 2.5-point on the road. The Panthers did look a little better last week and we know the Bills are not going to risk anyone. It seems everyone is on Carolina with the line moving so much, but the Panthers are still not a good team so this is a risky one.Bet Week 3 NFL Preseason Games at BetMGM.
