August 29, 2024NFL Week 1 Parlay Picks Recap
The NFL Week 1 Parlays were a complete split all the way across the board, as I went 1-1 with all three parlays. It should be noted, however, that you easily could have had a profitable Week 1, as the underdog parlay could have been a winner depending upon the numbers you got. When I released the picks, I had Arizona and Denver getting +6 and +5.5 respectively. You definitely could have gotten +6.5 on both games which would have given you a winning underdog parlay. For the purpose of this column however, I will still treat the parlay as a loss.
The favorites parlay split with Chicago covering the number against Tennessee in a game in which they were outplayed for most of the contest. The Bears got a great defensive performance that saved them and they rallied from 17 points down to get the win and steal the cover in a 24-17 win. The other half of the parlay never had a chance, as Cincinnati did next to nothing against the Patriots and lost outright 16-10.
As already noted, the underdog parlay had Arizona and Denver. Both teams were covering the spread for large portions of their games, but both teams had trouble in the second half. Denver did get a late TD to make the final margin six points, as they lost 26-20 to Seattle and Arizona also scored late to lose by just six points, 34-28 to Buffalo.
The line move parlay also went 1-1 and neither game was close. The Vikings were completely the right side, as they dominated the Giants from start to finish, winning 28-6. The Cleveland Browns were never really competitive in their game against the Dallas Cowboys, as the Browns were blown out, losing 33-17.
The NFL regular season is finally here with the two-time defending champion Kansas City Chiefs hosting the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday, September 5th on NBC. It was a successful preseason for us with the NFL parlay picks, as we hit one of our three parlays every week. It just so happened that the underdog parlay was the winning parlay every time. Parlays are popular wagers in NFL betting, but they are not as easy to hit as everyone seems to think. We’ll keep the same strategy that was successful in the preseason and go with three two-team NFL parlays. We’ll stay with the favorites, underdogs and line move parlays as we move into the regular season. Let’s look at NFL Week 1 parlay picks.

NFL Week 1 Favorites Parlay
Chicago Bears -4.5 vs. Tennessee Titans
I don’t like going with the public that often, but I can’t argue with taking the Bears. They look to be far better than they were a year ago and Caleb Williams is going to have a good season. I don’t like the Titans at all and I think moving on from Mike Vrabel was a mistake. I am not impressed at all with Will Levis and I think Williams is already better as a rookie. The hype on the Bears will only go higher after this game.
Cincinnati Bengals -9 vs. New England Patriots
I don’t like laying big points in the NFL, but I think the Patriots are going to be one of the worst teams in the NFL, if not the worst. It was definitely time for Belichick to go but I don’t think Mayo is the right guy for New England. I don’t know that it would matter, as the roster for New England simply isn’t any good. I’ll lay the points and take the Bengals.
NFL Week 1 Underdogs Parlay
Arizona Cardinals +6 at Buffalo Bills
I think Jonathan Gannon is on the right track with the Cardinals. I don’t know that I trust Kyler Murray but all indications from Arizona are that he is going to have a good season. I don’t like what the Bills did at all in the off-season and I think they could struggle. The Bills might pull out a late victory, but I am taking the Cardinals plus the points as the first half of the underdogs parlay.
Denver Broncos +5.5 at Seattle Seahawks
I know it was just the preseason, but I was impressed with the Broncos. I think Bo Nix is a massive upgrade at quarterback from the overrated Russell Wilson and there is no question that Denver is going to be better this season. I don’t trust the Seahawks laying points anyway. Maybe Seattle is able to pull out a close win, but I’ll take the points with Denver as the second half of the underdogs parlay.
NFL Week 1 Line Moves Parlay
Cleveland Browns -2.5 vs. Dallas Cowboys
The Browns have gone from a 1.5-point underdog to a 2.5-point favorite. I don’t know that I trust Deshaun Watson and the Browns laying points to a good Dallas team, but that is the line move. I am leery of laying points in the NFL anyway, but this is simply a parlay that is following the money so we take the Browns as the first half of the parlay.
Minnesota Vikings (-1.5) at New York Giants
The Vikings have gone from a 1-point underdog to a 1.5-point favorite. This is another game that I would not want anything to do with, but the line move is on the Vikings, so it is part of the parlay.Bet Week 1 NFL Games at BetMGM.
