Boxing Picks – Leigh Wood vs. Mauricio Lara
February 15, 2023Andrade vs. Blanchfield Picks
February 16, 2023If you like to play on the ice the National Hockey League has you covered all day on Saturday, February 18 with 13 games on the docket starting in the early afternoon and concluding after midnight if you’re in the eastern part of the country. And BetRivers sportsbook has all your wagering needs, including parlays, which have become hugely popular among NHL risk takers. With every team having played around 55 games – roughly two-thirds of the season – the Boston Bruins are the only team to gain separation in the standings.
That means a lot of teams are fighting for a few playoff spots with intensity for each contest going up a few notches. The defending Stanley Cup champion Avalanche are among the first to get started taking on the St. Louis Blues. A stretch where they went 8-2-2 lifted the Avalanche into third in the Central, though it’s a precarious position. The highlight of slate is the Stadium Series matchup between the Washington Capitals and Metropolitan Division leading Carolina Hurricanes from NC State’s Carter-Finley Stadium. The game airs on ABC at 8 p.m. ET. Let’s take a look at some winning NHL picks to include on your parlay.
Saturday NHL Parlay Picks
Montreal Canadiens at Toronto Maple Leafs
You could say this game is a mismatch. The Leafs are third in the Atlantic Division with a comfortable lead over fourth place Florida while the Habs are last in the division with more points than only Columbus in the East. But you can throw out the records and stats when these Original Six squads get together. The Leafs will have goal scoring machine Auston Matthews back in the lineup giving them a boost as well. Two of Montreal’s wins this season came in the first two meetings with a 4-3 win in October and 3-2 OT win last month. Both those games were in Montreal, though, where the Habs have a .500 record. On the road they are among the worst in the NHL and with the Leafs fighting with Tampa Bay they need every point they can get. And there’s two points waiting for them.
NHL Parlay Pick: Maple Leafs ML
New York Rangers at Calgary Flames
The trip through western Canada isn’t easy, especially with the Oilers and Flames being contenders in the Pacific Division. And the Blueshirts finish the swing in Calgary on Saturday, one night after tangling with the Oilers. It’s also their third game in four nights so there is a betting angle. It’s been a down season compared to last year but the Flames are within spitting distance of the top three and currently tied for the second wild card. They lost offensive firepower in Matthew Tkachuk and Johnny Gaudreau and the goals-per-game has dipped putting the Flames in the middle of the pack. New York overcame a deficit to beat Calgary 5-4 in OT just 10 days ago and the acquisition of Vladimir Tarasenko sparked the offense with the Rangers scoring six times in each of their first two games since the deal.
NHL Parlay Pick: OVER
Washington Capitals vs. Carolina Panthers
The rule of thumb in these outdoor games has been low scoring. The Canes boast one of the better defenses in the NHL and would like to continue that trend. Carolina yields just 2.7 goals a game while holding opponents to the fewest shots on goal per game. And with the Capitals likely playing without Alex Ovechkin after the death of his father, the offense takes a big dip. Ovechkin leads the Caps in goals by a wide margin. His 32 markers are 19 more than the next closest player with 10 of them coming on the power play. No doubt concerned about the health of his father, Ovie was scoreless in Sunday’s 4-1 loss to San Jose. Without him the Caps were handed their second 3-2 loss of the season by Carolina on Valentine’s Day. I don’t know where the offense is going to come from so I’m comfortable backing the UNDER while also throwing down on the Canes.
NHL Parlay Pick: Carolina PL / UNDER
