College Basketball Parlay Picks for Friday, March 17, 2023

The National Hockey League has a full slate of games on tap for Thursday, March 16 giving puck enthusiasts a plethora of betting options for a parlay. With about 15 games remaining some teams are making a final Stanley Cup playoff push while others are looking to improve their postseason standing. After the New Jersey Devils beat Carolina on Sunday the teams are tied for the lead in the Metropolitan Division with 94 points. The Devils finish off a two-game set with the struggling Tampa Bay Lightning, who are just 2-5-2 in nine games following a loss to Winnipeg on Sunday.
And speaking of Winnipeg, the Jets host the NHL best Boston Bruins looking to improve their playoff chances. The Jets enter the week as the second wild card in the Western Conference just a point behind Colorado for third in the Central Division after racking up consecutive victories for the first time in a month. I had a decent last week on my NHL picks and parlays at BetRivers sportsbook splitting four wagers to go 7-4 in my last 11 wagers. The key is putting all winners on the same ticket, which I’ll attempt to do on my Thursday NHL parlay picks.
NHL Parlay Picks for Thursday, March 16
Boston Bruins at Winnipeg Jets
There’s a reason why no team has won more than 62 games in a NHL season. The Bruins are on pace to establish a new record but with a playoff spot secured and the top-seed in the East a formality, they must balance the well being of the club against establishing league records. The core of the team is older with Patrice Bergeron, David Krejci and Brad Marchand all in their mid- to upper-30s and keeping them fresh for a deep playoff run is a must. They likely won’t sit out any games unless injured, but their minutes will be reduced leaving them vulnerable. One team ready to pounce is Winnipeg with a run up the Central standings. And the Jets have been solid at home going 21-11-2. The Jets have a potent offense led by 38 goals from Mark Scheifele and Kyle O’Connor’s 73 points. Connor Hellebuyck is a solid netminder making the Jets a strong NHL pick on my parlay card.
NHL Parlay Pick: Winnipeg ML
Dallas Stars at Edmonton Oilers
If you like offense, and who doesn’t, than this matchup is for you. The two highest scoring teams in the Western Conference battle for the third time with the two previous matchups cashing the OVER. With elite offensive stars like Edmonton’s Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl pitted against Jason Robertson and Jamie Benn, we should see goals. We saw eight of them in the first meeting with Dallas winning 6-2. The Oilers countered with a six-spot in the next outing winning 6-3 with the visiting team emerging on top. The Stars extended their stretch of games scoring at least four goals to eight with a 5-2 triumph over Seattle on Monday. Included in that streak was a 10-goal onslaught at Buffalo where all but one skater registered a point. McDavid is the best scorer in the league with 127 points before anyone else has even reached triple digits.
NHL Parlay Pick: Dallas/Edmonton OVER
Pittsburgh Penguins at New York Rangers
As if tensions between the Metropolitan Division rivals weren’t already high, schedule makers decided to add fuel to the fire by pitting the Penguins and Rangers against each other three times in the span of a week. At least they got a breather following Pittsburgh’s 3-2 overtime win on Sunday by playing another opponent before going at it again on Thursday followed by another contest on Saturday. One common theme in the previous meetings has been low scores with the Penguins winning both by the same 3-2 margin. And it would behoove the Penguins to stockpile wins since they are clinging to a wild card spot in the East. Don’t overlook their championship pedigree, though, and with a chance to track down the Rangers for third in the division Sidney Crosby and his mates will do their best. Pittsburgh got within six points with Saturday’s win and could put more pressure on the Blueshirts, who are 4-5-2 in 11 games after the overtime setback.
