With two months to go, the games have enhanced meaning. Playoff berths are at a premium, with multiple teams bunched up for a shot at Lord Stanley’s Cup. Saturday offers an overload of NHL Betting action for Puckheads and gamblers. Along the same lines, some excellent potential parlays come with such a lengthy card.
NHL Free Picks – Edmonton Oilers at Ottawa Senators
With the regular season’s stretch run underway, the Edmonton Oilers can be expected to pull themselves together. Edmonton is only three points out of first place in the highly competitive Pacific Division. And they will have the top player on the ice in Connor McDavid. Ottawa is a pesky team but lacks the firepower of the Oil.
Betting on the NHL – Tampa Bay Lighting at Dallas Stars
Faceoff time in Big D is at 1 p.m. ET with television coverage on ESPN+ and ABC. Although Tampa Bay holds the third spot in the Atlantic Division, they have lacked their past dominance and consistency. Tampa Bay has to be worn down from three consecutive appearances in the Stanley Cup Final, two of which they won.
Dallas leads the Central Division and has been rejuvenated under first year head coach Peter DeBoer. The Stars are a quality team that plays a full 200-foot game.
NHL Picks Today – Columbus Blue Jackets at Toronto Maple Leafs
Faceoff TIME from Toronto is at 7 p.m. ET. One of the most putrid teams and biggest disappointments of the season are the Columbus Blue Jackets. CBJ caught plenty of attention by acquiring Johnny Goudreau from the Calgary Flames in the offseason. But Gaudreau and CBJ have flopped to a record of 15-32-4, the worst in the Eastern Conference.
Although the Toronto Maple Leafs are the team everyone outside of Ontario loves to hate, they are the vastly superior team in this matchup. Toronto is 31-13-8 and having their normally good regular season. Toronto’s problems will start in two months when the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs begin.
NHL Betting Picks – Arizona Coyotes at St. Louis Blues
Faceoff time in St. Louis is at 8 p.m. ET. It has been a season of frustration for the St. Louis Blues. In reality, St. Louis has never been the same since winning the 2019 Stanley Cup. From that moment on, the Blues have struggled with consistency and motivational issues.
But the biggest problem has been goaltender Jordan Binnington. Binnington was a career minor leaguer that took over the St. Louis net in the middle of the 2019 campaign when the club was last overall in the NHL. Binnington had a Cinderella season that ended with a Stanley Cup and a fat contract. Binnington has never come close to reaching that level since.
However, the Blues will have their traditional Saturday night sellout crowd on hand against an Arizona team that is outclassed. Arizona has only three wins in its previous ten games and is stuck in the eighth spot of the Western Conference wild card race.
NHL Best Picks – Chicago Blackhawks at Winnipeg Jets
Faceoff time in Winnipeg is at 10 p.m. ET. Winnipeg is one of the surprise teams in the NHL, with a record of 32-19-1 and 66 points. The Jets are only one point behind the Dallas Stars in the Central Division. The great irony is that Dallas fired Jets coach Rick Bowness at the end of last season. Now Bowness has jumpstarted a Winnipeg team that was languishing before his arrival.
Meanwhile, the Blackhawks are either tanking or not any good. It’s probably both. Chicago has a dismal record of 15-29-4, the worst in the Western Conference. Rumors persist that the Blackhawks will trade their former dynamic duo from the Stanley Cup dynasty days. Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews would bring some draft picks and much-needed younger players for their long rebuild ahead.
