All of the world’s best golfers will be in the field and we will also get to see Tiger Woods in action and since this is a major, the LIV Tour players will also be participating. Aaron Wise -140 vs. Abraham Ancer
Gary Woodland -110 vs. Thomas Pieters
Cameron Young -120 vs. Sebastian Munoz
Scottie Scheffler -136 vs. Patrick Cantlay
I’ll start with the PGA Tour’s GIR leader and go with Scheffler. He tied for 8th in his Open Championship debut a year ago. He is the No. 1 player in the world and there is no reason he can’t win this week. Cantlay still isn’t comfortable playing links golf and I don’t see him contending this week.
Marc Leishman +110 vs. Cameron Tringale
I know that some people are all-in on Tringale this week, but I am not one of them. I know he has played better of late but I am still not sold. In this matchup I get a player I know can handle the situation at St. Andrews against what I consider a journeyman player. I’ll take Leishman at plus money.
Jason Kokrak -130 vs. Si Woo Kim
Here is another matchup where I am going with the player I trust. I have no clue as to why Kim is even in the Open, but somehow, he made it. I know that Kokrak will be solid tee-to-green and not make many mistakes, while Kim is likely to miss the cut. I’ll take Kokrak here.
Dustin Johnson -152 vs. Brooks Koepka
One player from the LIV Tour who could contend this week is Johnson. He has length off the tee and he has good touch around the greens. I am not sold at all on Koepka, as it seems he moved to the LIV Tour as much to get weaker competition as for the money. I will take DJ in this matchup.
Cameron Young -120 vs. Sebastian Munoz
Is there any reason why Young won’t handle the pressure and play well this week? He has already shown he can compete against the world’s best. I don’t know that we’ll get a great week out of Munoz. I will take Young in this matchup.
