January 18, 2023NCAAB Futures Odds Betting – Alabama has the Look of a Title Contender
January 18, 2023The Pac-12 currently has just four teams ranked amongst the top-50 in the nation per the most up to date Pomeroy Ratings. One of those teams just so happens to be Mick Cronin’s UCLA Bruins who clock in at No. 3 with the team coming out victorious in 16 of 18 played games while going undefeated in conference play. Jaime Jacquez has been balling in his senior campaign leading the team with 16.7 points and 7.1 rebounds per game. His efforts are a main reason why the Bruins have been extremely kind to their college basketball betting supporters rewarding them with 11 overall ticket cashes. UCLA’s implied probability of cashing in on the Pac-12 futures odds currently checks in at 83.3 percent. Congrats to those that took fliers on the Bruins when initially offering up a 2-1 return at BetRivers Sportsbook.
Though the Bruins haven’t won a regular season title since 2012-13, I’m not in the business of laying heavy chalk in the futures market. With plenty of season remaining, let’s take a look at other teams exuding value just in case the season goes sideways. The following are my favorite, underdog, and longshot recommendations that could prevent UCLA from waltzing its way to the title.

Favorite to Bet: Arizona Wildcats +800
At one point, the Arizona Wildcats looked like surefire national championship contenders after Tommy Lloyd’s kids raced out to a perfect 6-0 start and won the Maui Invitational by way of taking down Cincinnati, San Diego State, and Creighton over a three-day stretch. After suffering its first loss of the season in a major letdown spot at Utah in the Pac-12 opener over a week later, the Wildcats would rip off another eight more wins which included a neutral court pounding of Indiana and home court defense against Tennessee. Then seemingly out of nowhere, the Cats fell at home to Wazzou as 12-point favorites and followed it up with an embarrassing trip to Eugene where it got pounded by the Ducks as 4-point road chalk.
This midseason stumble has opened up a window of opportunity to buy the Wildcats at an 8-1 return. Before the season tipped off, Kerr Kriisa and co. owned just over a 31 percent probability of winning the Pac-12 for the second straight year. Now it clocks in at just over 11 percent and I’m not buying that one bit! The team will be favored to win all but two of its remaining games – provided the injury bug doesn’t wreak havoc. It’s ranked No. 20 at KenPom and owns the highest ranked offensive efficiency in the conference by a decent margin. It also owns a major advantage down low with the 1-2 punch of Azuolas Tubelis and Oumar Ballo with everyone else in the conference getting it done with heavy guard play. Should it hold serve against USC and UCLA this week, you can bet your bottom dollar its odds of winning the Pac-12 title will be slashed dramatically – BUY NOW!
Underdog to Bet: Oregon Ducks +4000
It hasn’t been a pretty start for the Quack Attack evidenced by its 10-8 SU and 4-3 conference records. That being said, the team is the heathiest it’s been all season and I’ve got mad respect for Dana Altman who’s led this program to four regular season titles as well as three conference tourney titles throughout his 13-year stay in Eugene. Consistency has plagued the Ducks. Just take a look at what went down last week when it got skunked by ASU on its home floor as 4-point favorites and then immediately turned around and beat Arizona by 19 points as a 4-point home dog.
If Will Richardson and co. is to make a run to the top of the standings, it must be done over the next two weeks with games scheduled to go @Cal, @Stanford, and then back home against Colorado and Utah. The defense has started to come around in recent weeks – save for that 90-point Sun Devils eruption – but the offense has been way too hit or miss. Should it finally fall into a consistent rhythm, Oregon will have a say in how this all plays out.
Longshot to Bet: Colorado Buffaloes +25000
If only the Buffs could play every single one of their games at the CU Events Center. Tad Boyle’s kids stand 8-1 SU (5-4 ATS) in its home digs with the lone defeat coming against ASU in a game it held a 15-point lead with just over 10 minutes remaining in the second half. On the flipside, K.J. Simpson and co. have managed just one win and cover against the college basketball odds on the road through six tries. Believe it or not, but Colorado is currently the third highest ranked team in the conference per the current Pomeroy Ratings (No. 48). It ranks out so highly mostly due to playing a terrific brand of defense that finds it ranked No. 22 in efficiency; second to only UCLA.
Seven of its remaining 12 games come in the comforts of its home arena which makes the Buffaloes worth a pizza money dart throw just in case all hell breaks loose!
