May 14, 2024Caesars Palace Heats Up With May Bonus Action
May 15, 2024The world’s best golfers head to Valhalla this week for golf’s second major of the season, the PGA Championship. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is finally off baby watch, as his wife had their first child earlier this week. Scheffler is listed as the favorite at Caesars with odds of +300. He is followed by Rory McIlroy at +600 and defending champion Brooks Koepka at +1100. Since this is a major, LIV golfers are in the field and two others, Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau are listed at odds of +2000 or less. Let’s look at PGA Championship odds and picks.

Venue: Valhalla Golf Club is a par 71 that measures 7,600 yards. The fairways are Zeon Zoysiagrass, while the greens are Bentgrass. This will be the fourth time that Valhalla will be hosting the PGA Championship. The PGA will set up the course to play difficult, so we know that accuracy will be important and long iron play will be critical.
Last Year: Brooks Koepka won the PGA Championship last year, beating Scottie Scheffler and Viktor Hovland by two shots. Bryson DeChambeau, Cameron Davis and Kurt Kitayama were another four shots back in a tie for fourth.

Favorite
Scottie Scheffler +350
We finally got a favorite not named Scheffler to win last week. It took a collapse by Xander Schauffele to do it, but Rory McIlroy played really well and he came through as the favorite at the Wells Fargo Championship last week. Scheffler is the best player in the world and it really isn’t close. The only concern for me is whether or not his lack of practice and playing time while waiting for his wife to have their first child will impact his play this week. I still can’t argue with taking Scheffler to win this week, but there is definitely not much value in taking him at these odds.
Golf Picks
Brooks Koepka +1100
We know that when majors come around that Koepka is going to be in the mix. Of his 13 PGA/LIV wins, five have been majors. He is coming off a win in Singapore on the LIV Tour and those fairways were Zoysiagrass. We know that hitting it a long way and being excellent in approach are keys and Koepka does both well. He looks ready to contend again this week.
Bryson DeChambeau +2000
There is no question that DeChambeau is in fine form. He has four top 10 finishes on the LIV Tour this season. He has played well in majors in the past including a 4th at the PGA Championship four years ago and a tie for fourth in last year’s PGA. He was 6th in this year’s Masters. He still hits the ball a ton and he is capable of being in the mix this week.
Max Homa +3000
Homa continues to prove he can play well in majors. He was in contention in the Masters and he has a couple of runner-up finishes in majors. He has six overall wins on the PGA Tour and he plays well on tough courses. I see no reason he can’t contend this week.
Wyndham Clark +4000
I think Clark is still very underrated by oddsmakers. He is the reigning U.S. Open champion and he ranks well in a number of key categories. I know he didn’t play that well last week at the Wells Fargo, but I think that gives him even more value this week. Keep in mind he is now ranked No. 4 in the world and yet he is not getting that type of respect in PGA Championship odds.
Cameron Young +4500
I think it is only a matter of time before Young wins, and his first win just might come in a major. He has 15 finishes inside the top 10 in only 60 total career starts on the PGA Tour. He has five top 10 finishes in majors in just 11 career starts. He hits the ball a ton and his game is made for tough courses.
Sepp Straka +7500
Straka is having a nice season and he is listed at big odds. He played well last week and he ranks highly in Strokes Gained Off the Tee in recent weeks. He has played well in majors recently including a 7th in the PGA Championship last year. I give him at shot this week at longshot odds.Check out the PGA Championship odds at Caesars.
