July 19, 2023New York Giants Season Win Total Odds, Pick & Prediction
July 19, 2023The Philadelphia Eagles were a masterclass a season ago rattling off a 14-3 record that was parlayed into a Super Bowl appearance. Nothing was cheap about their impressive run to the big game either as they dominated every step of the way. One of the key ingredients to the overall success was the enormous steps taken forward by none other than Jalen Hurts who was rewarded with a lucrative contract extension due to the impressive showing. Other components included an Eagles’ defense that led the NFL in sacks, while head coach Nick Sirianni seemed to push all the right buttons at the most opportune of times. The Eagles and the Niners were the only teams in the NFL to finish in the top five in both offensive and defensive EPA. However, the schedule looks to be much tougher this NFL betting season and both coordinators bolted the City of Brotherly Love to take head coaching gigs in other cities. On top of that, the Eagles were benefactors of some extreme injury luck on both sides of the ball, and it’s darn near close to impossible to evade the injury bug in successive campaigns. All that has me a bit leery of Philly being as dominant as it was just a short season ago, but the team could win 11 games and still win the NFC East!
Philadelphia Eagles: Brutal Schedule Incoming!
The Eagles are looking to build on their success in the upcoming season with their win total odds set at a hefty 11.5 games. The team is projected to have a league-average strength of schedule per Sharp Football Analysis, but the overall makeup leaves cause for concern with it light early and heavy late. They don’t play a single team in the first five weeks who is favored to make the playoffs, so the Eagles can jump out to another great start. However, the back-half of the schedule is arguably the toughest of any of the 32 teams. The Eagles will square off against some of the toughest teams in the league during this period, including the Dallas Cowboys, Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, San Francisco 49ers, and Seattle Seahawks. They also must play the Cowboys on the road on SNF in Week 14 then oppose the Seahawks the following week in front of the 12

Philadelphia Eagles Season Wins Total: 11.5
PointsBet Sportsbook currently has the Eagles listed at +800 to win the Super Bowl, -130 to win the NFC East, and +300 to win the NFC. You’ll need to pony up $405 to make $100 if in fact you expect the franchise to make a third straight playoff appearance. Should they pull it off, Philly will have qualified for the second season in six of the last seven years! Though the Eagles ran roughshod upon the league last year, I’m still taken aback as to how glowing the team looks to be in the eyes of oddsmakers. A 11.5-game impost is 1.5-games higher than it went off the board a season ago, and the Eagles now must run up against a first place schedule with some key coaching figureheads no longer in the mix. I’m not buying it!
The Eagles nearly had everything go right for them in the regular season last year, which is why they were able to win 14 games. Unfortunately, the Zebras prevented them from potentially seeing it all the way through in Super Bowl LVII. The offense was fantastic mostly due to a stellar offensive line and elite pass defense leading the way. They had shown signs of promise in 2021, as they made the playoffs but lost in the first round. However, they made a big splash in the offseason, trading for A.J. Brown to give them a game-breaker at the wide receiver position. Alongside second-year breakout receiver DeVonta Smith and Dallas Goedert, Philly’s passing game reached new heights in 2022-23 (No. 9). All the pertinent pieces are back save for RB Miles Sanders, but upper management brought in reinforcements in the forms of in Rashaad Penny and D’Andre Swift. Should either be able to stay healthy for the full 17-game schedule, the Eagles offensive attack might be even scarier than it was last season. And then you got Haason Reddick and a bevy of other defensive contributors back on the defensive side of the ball!
Case for the Under
While the Eagles have a plethora of talent on a deep roster, there are some concerns heading into the new season. For starters, you’re fooling yourself if you think Penny and Swift will avoid the injury bug. God forbid each goes down at the same time! I’m a fan of both Boston Scott and Kenneth Gainwell, but neither is equipped to shoulder an RB1 load. While the addition of Olamide Zaccheaus was solid, the Eagles will be in a world of hurt at the wide receiver position should either DeVonta Smith or A.J. Brown go down with a major injury. The latter actually partook in all 17 games a season ago which was a career first. I’m willing to pony up some beer money that doesn’t occur this time around! And then there’s the breaking in of new coordinators paired with that hellish back end of the schedule. I’d be shocked if the Eagles didn’t suffer one if not a handful of debilitating injuries that hampers their ability to match last year’s win total playing in the ultra-competitive NFC East.

Philadelphia Eagles Season Win Total Analysis
This take won’t be a popular take with the masses. Everything save for the tail end of Super Bowl LVII went right for the Eagles throughout the 2022-23 NFL betting season. It’s extremely rare for a team to enjoy the turnover, injury, and one-score game luck it was afforded in back-to-back seasons. One of only four teams to sport an 11.5-game win total, the Eagles will be hard-pressed to get to the top of the mountain in successive seasons due to the regression monster. That being said, it’s highly possible the team gets out to a perfect 5-0 or 4-1 start through the first six weeks as easy the schedule looks to be on paper. Should that come to pass, I’ll definitely be looking to hammer the under of their readjusted in-season win total at PointsBet knowing full well what awaits from Week 9 forward is nightmarish to say the least.
