June 7, 2023Stanley Cup Finals Game 3 Same Game Parlays
June 7, 2023Rory McIlroy is favored to win this week’s RBC Canadian Open. McIlroy is the only player listed with single-digit odds at BetRivers. McIlroy has won this event the last two times it was played, as he won it in 2019 and 2022. The tournament was not held in 2020 or 2021. This is the week before the U.S. Open so most of the world’s top players are bypassing this event, but in addition to McIlroy, there still are a few big names, with Tyrrell Hatton, Matt Fitzpatrick, Sam Burns and Cameron Young ranked in the Top 20 in the latest World Golf Rankings, in the field. The winning streak ended last week with our matchups, as Jordan Spieth proved he was healthy and beat us in a couple of matchups. Let’s look at RBC Canadian Open matchup picks.
Defending Champion: Rory McIlroy
Tournament Notes: Oakdale will play as a par 72 that measures 7,264 yards. Scoring should be low, as the course used to be a par 71. The weather should be fine until Sunday when rain could be an issue. Oakdale is a tree-lined course and the rough is said to be at least five inches, so accuracy off the tee will be important this week.

Kim, Michael -122 vs. Hughes, MacKenzie
Hojgaard, Nicolai -134 vs. McNealy, Maverick
Meronk, Adrian -118 vs. Mitchell, Keith
If you want to back a player who has a lot of motivation then Meronk is a good choice. He can secure a Special Temporary PGA Tour Membership by finishing in the Top 15 this week. He is playing well, as he won last month in Italy and he finished in a tie for 5th in the Netherlands. I’ll take Meronk in this matchup.
Rai, Aaron -125 vs. Hojgaard, Nicolai
When I was looking at players who are very accurate off the tee, I noticed Rai ranking very highly at No. 7 on the PGA Tour. This Oakdale course is going to demand accuracy and I think players who keep it in the fairway are going to have a lot of success this week. I’ll take Rai in this matchup.
Bramlett, Joseph -156 vs. Pendrith, Taylor
Bramlett is having his best season to date, as he has seven finishes in the Top 25 and three of those finishes came in his last five starts. He has solid numbers on the PGA Tour in tee-to-green statistics and he usually scores well. I’ll lay the price and take Bramlett in this matchup.
Burns, Sam -125 vs. Fleetwood, Tommy
Burns played well at Colonial and he has the type of game that should do well at Oakdale. I expect Burns to be in contention for the win this week and to shoot some low scores. Fleetwood is coming off a missed cut at Colonial and I don’t know that this course will suit his game. He does have a good short game, but he is not one of the most accurate off the tee and his putting isn’t always strong. I’ll take Burns in this matchup.
Todd, Brendon +104 vs. Taylor, Nick
We get plus money on Brendon Todd who ranks in the Top 15 in accuracy off the tee. On the other side, Taylor is outside of the Top 100 in terms of accuracy. I’ll take a shot with Todd in this matchup.
