April 16, 2024There is an obvious letdown on the PGA Tour this week after last week’s Masters, but not much of one, as this week’s RBC Heritage is a Signature Event so that means a $20 million dollar prize purse and a stacked field. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is in the field, as of this writing, but his wife Meredith could go into labor at anytime and Scheffler has said he will withdraw if that happens. This week’s RBC Heritage odds at Caesars look a lot like last week’s Masters leaderboard. Scheffler is the clear favorite at odds of +360 and then it is a big drop to Xander Schauffele and Rory McIlroy at odds of +1000 and +1100 respectively. They are followed by Ludvig Aberg, Patrick Cantlay and Collin Morikawa. Let’s look at RBC Heritage odds and picks.

Venue: Harbour Town Golf Links is a par 71 that measures 7,213 yards. It has been lengthened a little bit for 2024. It has hosted the tournament since the 1960’s. The course has tight fairways and small putting surfaces. Two of the last three winners of this event led the field in Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green.
Last Year: Matt Fitzpatrick won in a playoff last year, as he beat Jordan Spieth in a playoff. It was two years ago that Spieth won in a playoff. Patrick Cantlay finished third a year ago, Xander Schauffele finished fourth, while Sahith Theegala and Hayden Buckley tied for fifth.

Favorite
Scottie Scheffler +360
I have said for a while now that golf betting favorites are a bad bet, but the exception to that rule has been Scheffler. He has won three times as a favorite this season. With all of the uncertainty regarding his wife expecting and a letdown being a real possibility this week, I can’t take Scheffler as the favorite.
Golf Picks
Patrick Cantlay +1600
I know that Cantlay has been a disappointment this season but he plays well on Pete Dye courses. He has a number of good finishes and he has played well at TPC River Highlands in the past with four top three finishes. It would not surprise me if Cantlay bounces back this week with a good effort and is in the mix.
Will Zalatoris +2800
When you look at the numbers of players who win in this tournament it is all about Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green and putting. Zalatoris is a player who fits the winning profile this week. Zalatoris played well last week at the Masters and I think he can ride that momentum this week.
Sahith Theegala +3300
You have to like the way that Theegala is playing this season and his game is a god fit for this course. He ranks well in Tee-to-Green and in putting and his current form is solid. He plays well on short courses and I think he can contend for the win this week and we get 33-1.
Tom Kim +5000
I know that Kim has been a disappointment this season, but there are signs he is turning the corner. He had an excellent final round at the Masters and his three PGA Tour wins have come on these type of golf courses. He can play well on courses that demand good scoring and his Tee-to-Green numbers are improving.
Sepp Straka +8000
Why not a longshot at big odds this week. Straka played well at the Masters last week and he plays well on Bermudagrass greens. He has a number of high finishes on courses like this one and he was third last year at Harbour Town. There are a lot of reasons to think Straka can contend this week and we get big odds of 80-1.Check out the latest RBC Heritage odds at Caesars.
