October 3, 2023Leigh Wood vs. Josh Warrington Picks, Predictions, and Odds
October 4, 2023The PGA Tour continues with their FedExCup Fall schedule with the Sanderson Farms Championship in Jackson, Mississippi. Most of the world’s top players are bypassing this event, but there are some recognizable names, including Ludvig Aberg who looks like a future star. He is joined by Mackenzie Hughes who will look to defend his Sanderson Farms Championship title. Other names of note include Kevin Kisner, Webb Simpson, Keith Mitchell and Davis Riley. I am on a nice little run picking golf winners of late, as I had Europe in the Ryder Cup and I had Theegala at 18-1 in the Fortinet Championship. Let’s look at Sanderson Farms Championship picks.

Favorite
Aberg, Ludvig +1200
First off, Aberg is a stud. I am going to be taking him on a regular basis over the next few years, but I am a little leery this week for two reasons. First, he is the favorite, and we know golf betting favorites are a losing proposition. Second, he is coming off a very emotional Ryder Cup where Europe beat the United States. You might also throw some jet lag in there as well for another reason. Regardless, I think Aberg is an excellent player, but I am not taking him this week.
Value Picks
Cole, Eric +2000
The top rookie on the PGA Tour right now is Cole and he knows how to win, as he won numerous times in Minor League Golf and he is getting close on the PGA Tour. He was 2nd in the Honda Classic at PGA National and he was 4th last time out at the Fortinet Championship. He already ranks in the Top 50 in the FedExCup so he gets to play all of the Signature events in 2024. He can play loose this week and go for his first win. He ranks highly in Strokes Gained: Tee to Green and Strokes Gained: On Approach and we know those stats matter this week.
Svensson, Adam +2800
Another player who can focus on the win this week is Svensson who is already in the Top 50 of the FedExCup. He has had a win and five top 10 finishes this season. He ranks in solid form in the key categories this week and we get some value on him behind the top favorites this week.
Ryder, Sam +4500
The Sanderson Farms Championship has been a very good tournament through the years for players to get their first PGA Tour win. Could it be that Ryder gets his this week? He will be making his 165th PGA Tour start and he is playing really well right now. He has two top 15 finishes in his last four starts. He ranks in the Top 10 in Strokes Gained: On Approach in his last four starts.
Hoge, Tom +5000
I am surprised the price on Hoge is so high. He is actually the second-highest ranked player in the field according to the World Golf Rankings. He is playing well with three top 25 finishes in his last five events. He is a very good player tee-to-green and if he could get his putter to cooperate just a little he can win this week at big odds.
Tarren, Callum +5000
How about another longshot this week? We have seen golfers who drive the ball well win on this course and Tarren fits the bill. He hits the ball a ton and puts himself in position, but his putter doesn’t always cooperate. He is a lot like Hoge in that respect. I’ll take a flyer on him at nice odds.
Bhatia, Akshay +5500
A player who sometimes gets ignored is Bhatia but he ranks highly in Strokes Gained Approach and the field this week is not that strong and there is no reason that Bhatia can’t be in the mix and we get him at odds of 55-1.
