December 26, 2024Seahawks at Bears Same Game Parlay Recap
The last Thursday Night NFL same game parlay of the season went 1-1 with the Bears covering the spread against the Seahawks, but the game going under the total. It was an ugly game throughout that Seattle found a way to win. The Seahawks were a 3.5-point favorite and although they won the game 6-3 they did not cover the spread. The game was played with rain falling throughout which made scoring more difficult. The game went well under the total of 43.5. Let’s look at the Seahawks at Bears Same Game parlay recap.
In a primetime defensive slugfest Thursday night at Soldier Field, the Seattle Seahawks defeated Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears 6-3, combining to deliver the lowest scoring output of any NFL game this season. The Bears’ 179 total yards were the fewest they had given up in a single game since Week 7 of the 2017 season (177 yards against the New York Giants), and the Seahawks sacked Williams seven times, which tied for a season-high. Chicago’s 76 passing yards, including sack yardage, are the fewest Seattle has given up since Week 14 of the 2018 campaign (60 yards against the Minnesota Vikings). However, Seattle struggled as well, finishing the season with a season-low number of points. The Seahawks’ offense did not have a drive span of double digit plays for the remainder of the game after completing an 11-play drive on their opening possession. The Bears were coming off nine straight losses and their defense had given up 34 points per game in its last three games, so the defensive performance was a bright spot.
The victory guaranteed Seattle their third consecutive winning season (their eleventh in the previous twelve), and also kept them in the running for the NFC West championship in Week 18, should circumstances favor them. Running backs Zach Charbonnet (15 runs, 57 yards) and Kenny McIntosh (7 carries, 46 yards) were the main contributors to Seattle’s 122 total yards gained through rushing. Tight end Noah Fant led the Seahawks’ receivers with four catches for 43 yards, and quarterback Geno Smith completed 17 of 23 throws for 160 yards.
Five other Seattle players recorded multiple sacks, while defensive lineman Leonard Williams recorded his fourth of the season. In the first quarter, the Seahawks amassed 61 running yards, surpassing their total for the whole game five times this season. In the first half, Charbonnet and McIntosh formed a potent tandem that amassed 87 yards on 14 carries.
Smith had one of his poorest game starts this season, despite Seattle’s strong rushing attack. Smith almost made his fifth red zone interception of the season while aiming for wide receiver Tyler Lockett on Seattle’s 11-play, 71-yard opening drive. Tremaine Edmunds, a linebacker for the Bears, dropped an easy pick. To save the once promising drive, Jason Myers had to convert a 27-yard field goal. Smith’s first-half passing total of 97 yards (10 of 15) was significantly less than his season-average of 134.2 yards per game.
The Bears punted on their first three possessions, but Seattle went three-and-out on its next two drives. From the beginning, Williams was frequently under pressure. The Bears were unable to move the ball reliably. By halftime, the Seahawks had only gained three additional points from two drives of at least eight plays. With a 13-play, 67-yard drive, Chicago also managed to score three points, bringing the score to 6-3 at the half.
Before Bears safety Kyler Gordon stripped Seahawks tight end Pharaoh Brown on a brief reception, the third quarter was a game of punts. As Seahawks players halted their chase, Gordon, uncertain as to whether a whistle had been thrown, chose to return it for a touchdown. Before officials decided Gordon was down at Chicago’s 38-yard line, where he first recovered the ball, the play was first called a touchdown. The Seahawks’ defense, led by Uchenna Nwosu’s first sack of the season for a 14-yard loss, nevertheless stonewalled the Bears and forced another punt.
The Chicago offense didn’t start moving the ball until the Bears were in a game of survival. Chicago reached Seattle’s 40-yard line, a field position that could have set up a 57-yard range goal try, when Williams converted a crucial 4th and 5 pass to wide receiver DJ Moore. Rather, Williams had to toss a prayer on fourth and tenth to try to prolong the game after several missed passes. The Bears’ ten-game losing streak was sealed when Seahawks cornerback Riq Woolen intercepted the ball.

The Seattle Seahawks visit the Chicago Bears on Thursday night on Prime Video. It is a must-win game for the Seahawks if they hope to keep their playoff hopes alive, as Seattle trails the Los Angeles Rams by one game in the NFC West. Seahawks at Bears Same Game Parlay Pick
What an ugly matchup for Thursday night this week. The Seahawks are still alive to make the playoffs, but they don’t look like a playoff team. They need to win this game and have the Cardinals beat the Rams to stay alive. Then it would come down to next week’s game between the Seahawks and Rams in Los Angeles to decide the NFC West. On paper the Seahawks should win this game, but despite putting up big passing numbers, Geno Smith is not a quality NFL quarterback. The Seahawks defense, which was expected to be improved under supposed defensive guru and head coach Mike Macdonald doesn’t impress. Seattle simply makes too many mistakes on both sides of the ball. The problem in this game is that the Bears are even worse. They have problems all over the field and on the sidelines, as interim head coach Thomas Brown is actually worse than Matt Eberflus. Brown has not done himself any favors by taking the interim job. Chicago’s offense has talent but Caleb Williams makes too many mistakes and he doesn’t get a ton of help. It is even worse on defense, as the Bears give up yards and points in bunches.
The Seahawks are listed as a 3.5-point favorite and that seems like too much to me, but I have to say that taking the Bears requires holding your nose and hoping for the best. I still think taking the dog is the way to go, but it is not done with a ton of confidence. Neither defense is playing well so this should be a game that goes over the total.
