By Mike Rose
I truly felt confident heading into the Monday night tilt between the Seattle Seahawks and Detroit Lions taking the points with the visitors and expecting the defense to give Jared Goff and his mates a run for their money—much like they had done the two years prior in previous treks to Motown. However, the NFC North reps hit their home turf extra motivated and piled on when given the chance enough to make a mockery of the proceedings ultimately burying Mike Macdonald’s squad by a 42-29 final count; never once being in a position to not cover the closing NFL odds. While it didn’t help that the Seahawks were missing several key defensive players I expected to play when writing up the same game parlay leg recommendations, I doubt many NFL teams would have been able to get the better of Dan Campbell’s troops this past Sunday night.
Though Seattle ultimately outgained Detroit 516-389, it was the efficient play of Detroit’s QB1 and the offense’s ability to make hay in the red zone (5/5) that gave us no shot of cashing any of the legs in. I mean come on, Goff completed all 18 of his pass attempts for crying out loud! As such, the Lions soared right past their 25.5-point team total midway through the third quarter and didn’t stop there en route to nearly eclipsing the full game total all by themselves. Hat tip to Kenneth Walker III for balling out in his return to the huddle, but his 116 scrimmage yards and 3 TD still resulted in the Seahawks losing the game by double digits. I’ve gotten my breakfast, lunch, and dinner served up in primetime games of late which has Caesars Sportsbook welcoming my action with open arms. We’ll see who has the last laugh….
Seattle Seahawks vs. Detroit Lions Same Game Parlay Picks, Odds & Predictions
Week 4 NFL betting closes out in the second of two Monday Night Football matchups in Motown, where the injury-plagued Detroit Lions aim to snap six-game losing and five-game coverless streaks against the Seattle Seahawks, a skid that stretches back to 2015. Geno Smith and the Seahawks have won outright in Ford Field each of the last two seasons, and enter this matchup as one of just five teams still undefeated through three weeks of play. Meanwhile, Dan Campbell’s Lions return home with a 2-1 record both straight up and against the spread after pulling off a gritty win against the Arizona Cardinals in the desert. This week’s MNF Same Game Parlay (SGP) is an opportunity for redemption after last week’s embarrassment that involved backing Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars. We make up for it tonight – SLAM YOUR MAN!!
The NFL odds for this NFC tilt opened up with the Lions laying 4.5-points and the total lined 48.5. Both the side and total have undergone market corrections since first hitting the board. Current action reports find 45 percent of the bets and 54 percent of the money going the way of the home team, but reverse line movement has seen a line move down to 3.5 at Caesars Sportsbook.
Though the recent rivalry has seen an average of 80+ points dent the scoreboard in the two most recent meetings, total bettors have flocked to the under with nearly 70 percent of the handle forcing linemakers to trim the O/U two full points down to 46.5. Injuries and the excelled play of both defenses are the defining reasons as to why.
Reduced juice betting is one of the best ways for any sports bettor to save money and far too many people don’t take advantage of it. If you are not playing at a sportsbook that offers reduced juice betting then you are simply giving away money.

Seattle Seahawks vs. Detroit Lions NFL Same Game Parlay:
Before the season kicked off, the Seattle Seahawks represented one of my largest positions in the win total odds betting market. With the entire NFC West’s schedule strengths rating out in the middle of the pack and really liking their chances in the three standalone games, I hammered the over of 7.5 wins and threw some shekels at an alt over as well. This is a team that would’ve punched a ticket to the playoffs had it not spit the bit at home against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 17. That likely wouldn’t have been a factor had it fared better in the four defeats incurred by a single possession. Enter the new coaching staff spearheaded by Mike Macdonald, and all of a sudden Seattle finds itself unblemished and atop the division standings three weeks in. While their competition thus far—Denver, New England, and Miami—has been, to put it mildly—unimpressive, the Seahawks have dominated, entering Detroit with the league’s No. 2 ranked total defense. They’ve shut down opposing passing games (#1) and allowed just over 14 points per game (#4). The back seven is playing a lock down brand of ball, helping Boye Mafe and the defensive front generate an impressive 3.7 sacks per game (#5).
Detroit enters this matchup with a severely banged-up offensive line, a major concern for a team that usually boasts one of the league’s best. With Frank Ragnow already ruled out due to a partially torn pectoral muscle and Graham Glasgow questionable, the Lions are facing a tough test. Penei Sewell is also dealing with an ankle injury. This situation plays right into Seattle’s hands, allowing them to focus on shutting down Amon-Ra St. Brown and stifling Detroit’s running game. Even at full strength, Detroit’s offense has struggled in key situations. While they rank 4th in total yardage, they sit at 26th in red zone scoring, contributing to an alarming offensive yard per point average of 19.3 (#29), compared to last season’s 14.4 average (#9). The statue that Jared Goff is, I forecast this to be a night he’s going to want stricken from the memory bank as quickly as possible. Though Detroit’s defense may put up a fight early, the offense’s inability to sustain drives will wear them down. Detroit’s defense will make things tough on Geno Smith and Co. early, but once the unit starts running on fumes due to the inability of the offense to sustain drives, it will roll over and die a slow death allowing Seattle to remain perfect and rattle off a seventh straight win in the recent rivalry.
