Week 18 NFL Player Prop Best Bets
January 5, 2024Sony Open in Hawaii Matchup Picks
January 10, 2024The PGA Tour stays in Hawaii this week for the Sony Open in Hawaii where Ludvig Aberg is listed as the golf betting favorite. Unlike last week, when it was an excellent field, this week we don’t have that many ranked players who are teeing it up. Aberg is listed as the betting favorite at Caesars with odds of +1200. He is followed by Tyrrell Hatton and Matt Fitzpatrick at odds of +1600. The odds then jump up to Brian Harman and Russell Henley at +2200. This is the first full-field event of 2024 and the big names from last week’s Sentry are not in the field this week. It is worth noting that 17 of the 25 winners of this event played at Kapalua the previous week. Let’s look at Sony Open in Hawaii odds and picks.

Favorite
Ludvig Aberg +1200
Another golf betting favorite bit the dust last week when Scottie Scheffler didn’t win. Just like last week, I have high regard for Aberg and think he will win on occasion, but we know that betting golf favorites is a losing proposition, so I am not taking Aberg this week.
Golf Picks
Brian Harman +2200
Harman has played this event in each of the last ten seasons. He finished last season playing really well with three top five finishes in seven starts. He tied for 8th at the Hero World Challenge this season and he finished in a tie for 5th at the Sentry last week. He plays better on shorter courses, so he should have a lot of success this week at Waialae.
Eric Cole +3000
I was shocked when I saw the number on Cole this low and that tells me that the oddsmakers are giving Cole a real chance this week. He played better each day last week at Kapalua to finish inside the Top 15. He is excellent on Bermuda grass and I think he can contend for the win this week.
Denny McCarthy +4500
There is no question that McCarthy will enjoy this shorter course at Waialae better than last week at Kapalua. He is one of the best putters on the PGA Tour and he should do well this week. I’ll take a shot with him at the big number.
Justin Rose +4500
Rose has played well at Waialae in the past with top 15 finishes in each of his last three appearances. He ranks highly in a number of categories on this course, including Shots Gained: Approach. There is no doubt that Rose is playing well enough to win and we get a nice number this week.
Brendon Todd +5000
You might want to start giving Todd more of a look this season. He has a new caddie this year in Paul Tesori who could make a big difference. Tesori has caddied in the past for Webb Simpson and Cameron Young. Todd played well last week and this is a good spot for him to get his first win since 2019.
