December 27, 2024Atlanta Falcons vs. Washington Commanders Same Game Parlay Picks, Odds & Predictions
December 27, 2024Quarterfinal College Football Playoff betting action closes out Saturday night’s New Year’s Day slate in the bayou where the No. 7 Notre Dame Fighting Irish will square off against the No. 2 Georgia Bulldogs in the Sugar Bowl from the Caesars Superdome. Marcus Freeman’s kids advanced in the tournament last week by taking the wood to the Indiana Hoosiers 27-17 as 6.5-point favorites in a game that was nowhere near as close as the final 10 point margin of victory suggests. Kirby Smart’s Dawgs got to kick back and enjoy watching all the carnage take place with all the favored teams romping their way to the next round.
Caesars Sportsbook opened Georgia as short 1-point favorites and set the total at 44—by far the lowest of the four quarterfinal matchups. Early betting trends show significant support for the Bulldogs, who have drawn over 55% of the bets and 60% of the handle. Because of this, UGA is now a 2-point favorite on the NCAAF odds with some -2.5 also starting to pop. Though 70+ percent of the tickets and 85+ percent of the handle has come in on the over, Caesars is yet to move off the opener though 44.5 has started to surface at other sportsbooks.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish vs. Georgia Bulldogs CFB Same Game Parlay:
Notre Dame made a pair of appearances in the CFP previously before taking the wood to the Hoosiers on that cold, wintry night a week ago in South Bend. The results weren’t pretty. They got their teeth kicked in 30-3 by Clemson as 10.5-point underdogs in the 2019 semis, and then followed it up with a 31-14 defeat to Alabama as 18.5-point underdogs in the semis a few years later. Evidenced by the college football betting odds in both matchups, the Irish clearly didn’t belong. That can’t and won’t be said of Notre Dame this time around with it set to hit the Superdome turf owners of 12-1 straight up (SU) and 11-3 against the spread (ATS) records making it one of the best remaining teams in this tournament regardless of invading N’awlens as the No. 7 seed. Had Notre Dame been a member of a Power Five conference, it’d certainly be seeded higher.
Winners of 11 straight games and 10-1 ATS record since shockingly falling at home to Northern Illinois as whopping 28-point favorites back in Week 2, I firmly believe the Fighting Irish possess the makeup needed, on both sides of the ball, to win its first national championship since the College Football Playoff became a thing. Notre Dame can run the heck out of the football with Jeremiyah Love (1,057 yards / 16 TD) and Jadarian Price (683 yards / 7 TD) comprising one of the more balanced double-pronged rushing attacks in the country. Riley Leonard has even got in on the act rushing for 751 yards and 15 touchdowns. If Notre Dame is to get out of this one alive, it’s going to need to continue making hay on the ground against a Georgia defense that just shut the Texas Longhorns’ running game down to win the SEC title a few weeks back. Notre Dame will have not seen as nasty a run defense since squaring off against the Texas A&M Aggies in front of the 12th man way back in the season opener!
Battle tested with backup quarterback Gunner Stockton set to make his first career start, I firmly expect the winner of this matchup to be the team that is best able to establish the run and dominate at the point of attack. Though not a member of the SEC, Notre Dame is certainly built in the trenches like a team from that conference. With that, this is going to be an incredible chess matchup between Freeman and Smart with the latter likely looking the way of Trevor Etienne who finally came alive for the Dawgs in the second half of that overtime win over the Longhorns in the conference championship game. While this could be me just wish casting considering I have a juicy 26-1 ticket on the Irish in my possession to win it all, I fully believe this game is a coin flip and give the slight advantage to ND with it having more big game experience under center. Regardless, this pairing will come off as a matchup of yesteryears with the defenses dominant and the offenses left scrambling to find much of any daylight. In the end, it’ll be the Irish that advances to the Orange Bowl to likely battle Penn State in the semis.
