Rockets at Kings Same Game Parlay Pick
January 14, 2025The PGA Tour heads to the mainland this week after the last two weeks in Hawaii and it is Justin Thomas listed as the favorite to win The American Express in California. Xander Schauffele was expected to play in this event, but he withdrew on Monday, so it is Thomas as the current favorite. This event will be played on three courses and the cut will occur after Saturday’s third round. The top 65 players and ties will then play on Sunday on the Stadium Course. Nick Dunlap became the first amateur to win on the PGA Tour since 1991 when he won this event a year ago. Dunlap is now a professional and he will look to defend his title. The field is a little better this week than what we saw last week in Honolulu, as joining Thomas are Tony Finau, Patrick Cantlay, Wyndham Clark and Sam Burns, among others. Thomas is listed as the favorite at odds of +1200 at Caesars and is followed closely by Burns, Sungjae Im and Cantlay. Let’s look at The American Express odds and picks.

Favorite
Justin Thomas +1200
It was another favorite that didn’t come through last week when Hideki Matsuyama failed to win in Honolulu. Matsuyama won the previous week when he wasn’t favored, but he really never seriously contended last week as the favorite. I say every week that golf betting favorites don’t win often enough to be profitable and that the only player worth considering as a golf betting favorite is Scottie Scheffler. This was going to be a week where Scheffler played, but his hand injury has meant he won’t return until Pebble Beach. Thomas is overdue to win but we have been saying that for a while now and I am not taking him as the favorite.
Value Picks
Tom Kim +3500
I am really surprised that the odds on Kim are this high. I know I am stubborn sometimes and I am not getting off the Kim bandwagon, as I think he will be much improved this season. He tied for 6th at this event in 2023 and shot 23-under par. He has been excellent on easy courses in recent seasons and I think he can win this week.
Max Greyserman +4000
There is no doubt that Greyserman is a very good young player. He made it into the Top 50 in the FedExCup standings in this rookie season. He has played well of late with a 2nd at the ZOZO Championship, a 4th at the World Wide Technology Championship and 24th last time at The Sentry. He is another player who does well on courses where scoring is excellent.
Will Zalatoris +4500
I am going to be all over Zalatoris this season, as I think a huge bounceback year is in store for him. He is now healthy and his game looks really good. He also has played well on this course in the past. I think he is a serious contender this week and we get 45-1.
Eric Cole +4500
You have to like the chances of Cole this week, as this course favors his game a lot. He is all about second shots and this course is made for him. He is still looking for his first PGA Tour win and it could come this week.
Bud Cauley +9000
Cauley has been in and out of action for a while with various injuries. He has nine events left on his Major Medical Extension so he needs to move up in the standings. He has looked better of late and he can definitely play well at PGA West, as he has a number of very good finishes including a 3rd in 2017.
Mac Meissner +10000
Why not a bomb this week at big odds? Meissner was really good on approach shots last week at Waialae and he should be even better this week. He is starting to play courses for the second time and he is a player who could surprise this week.Check out the American Express odds at Caesars.
