Favorite
Xander Schauffele +450
If you read the weekly golf picks on a regular basis you know that golf betting favorites don’t win often enough to be profitable. The only player worth considering as a golf betting favorite is Scottie Scheffler and he is not playing this week due to a hand injury. Schauffele is in the role of favorite and although he is coming off a really good season there is no way he should be listed at odds this low, as he is not Scheffler. I will definitely pass on Schauffele as the favorite and at this price.
Value Picks
Justin Thomas +900
I take Thomas in this tournament with some trepidation, as Thomas has not won since the 2022 PGA Championship. It definitely helps his chances that Scheffler is not playing and it also helps that JT has played really well at Kapalua including wins in 2017 and 2020. He did play pretty well in the latter half of the year with a 2nd at the ZOZO and a third at the Hero World Challenge. I’ll take him this week and hope he finally gets off the schneid.
Sungjae Im +2000
Im has played really well at Kapalua in the past with a number of high finishes. He was 2nd last year after 18 and 36 holes before doing nothing on Saturday to fall out of contention. He is another player who finished the 2024 year in decent form with solid finishes at the ZOZO and Hero World Challenge. I expect Im to be in the mix this week.
Akshay Bhatia +3000
Bhatia is a player I will be following all year. He could be in for a huge 2025 season. He is coming off a 2nd place finish at the Dunlop on the Japan Golf Tour where he played against Hideki Matsuyama and eventual winner Max McGreevy. Bhatia was 4th at the Hero World Challenge and was in the final group. I expect Bhatia to be very much in the mix for the win this week.
Byeong Hun An +3500
Another player who I expect to have a big 2025 is An. He got his second career win in the Genesis Championship in October. He tied for fourth in this event a year ago. This course is great for An who drives the ball a long way and who does well when birdies are needed in bunches. It would not surprise me at all to see An win this week, especially with Scheffler not playing.
J.T. Poston +5000
Poston is another player who does well when birdies are plentiful. He is up to 33rd in the latest World Golf Rankings but he stills goes under the radar. He finished tied for 5th in this event a year ago and there is no reason he can’t contend again this year.Check out the latest Sentry odds at Caesars.
