December 5, 2023The New England Patriots and coach Bill Belichick are a blast from the past. The days of dominance ended long ago, thanks in large part to the hubris and arrogance of Belichick, who read too many headlines about his alleged greatness. Belichick is in a hole he can’t dig out from. The Patriots face the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday night Prime Video.

New England Patriots at Pittsburgh Steelers (-6, OU 31) 8:15 pm, Prime Video
On Thursday, December 7, 2023, the Pittsburgh Steelers of the AFC North will host the New England Patriots of the AFC East at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh, PA. Kickoff time is 8:15 p.m. ET, with television coverage on Prime Video.
Last game, the New England Patriots lost 6-0 against the Los Angeles Chargers as 4.5-point home dogs. The game went under the total of 38.5. New England has a record of 2-10 straight up, 2-10 against the spread, and 3-9 over/under the total. New England ranks 28th for total offense, 23rd for passing, 22nd for rushing and 32nd for scoring. Defensively, they rank 8th overall, 16th against the pass, 4th against the rush, and 16th for points allowed. Also, New England ranks 24th for fewest turnovers lost and 29th for takeaways.
Cameron Dicker made a pair of 38-yard field goals, and punter JK Scott pinned the Patriots inside their 20 yard-line seven times in a cold and drenching rain on Sunday to give the Chargers a victory over the New England Patriots and their latest hapless quarterback, Bailey Zappe.
It was the third time in a row that the Patriots gave up ten or fewer points – and lost. They are the first team to do that since the 1938 Chicago Cardinals.
Last game, the Pittsburgh Steelers lost 24-10 against the Arizona Cardinals 24-10 as 6-point home favorites. The game went under the total of 41. Pittsburgh has a record of 7-5 straight up, 7-5 against the spread and 2-10 over/under the total. Pittsburgh ranks 25th for total offense, 28th for passing, 14th for rushing and 28th for scoring. Defensively, they rank 22nd overall, 19th against the pass, 22nd against the rush, and 6th for points allowed. Also, Pittsburgh ranks 4th for fewest turnovers lost and 3rd for takeaways.
All the progress shown by the offense a week earlier in a win over Cincinnati disappeared, and for once, the defense couldn’t come up with the game-changing plays that have become the unit’s trademark.
Pittsburgh failed to produce a turnover and let all three Arizona drives that reached the red zone end with a touchdown.
Pittsburgh QB Kenny Pickett was hurt late in the first half and wore a boot on his right foot while watching backup Mitch Trubisky, who struggled to do much of anything as the Steelers let a chance to strengthen their position in the AFC playoff race slip away.
Patriots at Steelers Free Parlay Pick
In this situation, the Steelers are in superior form and rejuvenated with a new offensive coordinator and play-caller. New England has collapsed into a lost cause.

Derek Carr, who completed 33 of 55 for 301 yards, drove New Orleans to a first-and-goal at the 6 in the final minute but threw four straight incompletions. Saints tight end Foster Moreau was wide open in the end zone when he dropped a third-down pass with 25 seconds left.

Carolina Panthers 13 at Chicago Bears 16
The prime-time matchup between teams among the bottom five in the NFL delivered about as much drama as expected. But Chicago made enough plays to come away with the victory.
