New Jersey Sportsbooks Report Excellent July
August 22, 2023MLB Same Game Parlay Picks, Odds & Predictions – Wednesday, August 23
August 22, 2023The FedExCup Playoffs conclude this week with the TOUR Championship where the FedExCup champion will be crowned. The top 30 players in FedExCup points are in the field and in this tournament, players will start with a particular score, based on their points. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler will start at 10-under par with Viktor Hovland in second place at 8-under. Rory McIlroy will start at 7-under, Jon Rahm at 6-under and Lucas Glover at 5-under. The rest of the field will start anywhere from 4-under to even par. Scheffler started in first place last year at the TOUR Championship and couldn’t close the deal. McIlroy will be looking to win his fourth FedExCup title. Scheffler is listed as the betting favorite at BetRivers. Let’s look at TOUR Championship picks.
Venue: East Lake Golf Club is a par 70 that measures 7,346 yards. The course has hosted the TOUR Championship every year since 2005.
Last Year: Rory McIlroy won his third FedExCup, beating Scheffler and Sungjae Im by one shot. McIlroy shot a 63 on Saturday to get into contention and he also got help from Scheffler who was six shots ahead starting the final round. Scheffler led throughout the tournament until the 70th hole where he had a bogey. He shot a final round 73 to lose the tournament. Xander Schauffele finished fourth, while Max Homa and Justin Thomas tied for fifth.

Scheffler, Scottie +150
The golf betting favorite lost again last week and that happens almost every single week in golf tournaments. This week is different with Scheffler starting with a two-shot lead, so I won’t automatically throw out the favorite as I do every other week. I am still leery of taking Scheffler simply because of his poor putting, but Scheffler is still a great player. If he could just fix his putting problems he would win every week.
Value Picks
McIlroy, Rory +350
I don’t think a player who isn’t within six or seven shots to begin this tournament has any realistic chance, but McIlroy has a chance, as he starts two shots behind. Scheffler may still be struggling with his putting, but he starts at 10-under par. He didn’t win last year, but he still led almost all the way and even with a poor final round he still nearly won. McIlroy loves to play at East Lake and has had great success, so you have to give him a shot to reel in Scheffler and make this a tournament.
Cantlay, Patrick +1800
I don’t know that Cantlay can get to Scheffler, but when looking at longshots you have to take players who are capable of putting up low scores. Cantlay is definitely capable of shooting some low scores and getting into contention. He is worth a flyer at these odds.
Schauffele, Xander +2200
Schauffele is another player who is capable of going low and shooting a great score. That is what is needed if a player is going to make up six shots. There is a little bit of value in Schauffele at these odds.
Homa, Max +3300
We saw last week that Homa can shoot a great score and he could do it again this week and get into the mix. He comes in playing well and last year he shot a 62 on this course on Friday. I think he has a chance to go low this week.
Fitzpatrick, Matthew +4000
The only other player I could see making up a lot of shots in a short period of time would be Fitzpatrick. He played well last week and had a chance to win. He has the right type of temperament to do well on this course and I expect him to play well and make up ground this week.
