Tournament Notes: The Travelers has attracted a strong field since it is the last Signature Event of the season. TPC River Highlands is a par 70 that measures just 6,835 yards. It is a relatively easy course, as players averaged 68.4 a year ago. The temperatures for the first two days are going to be in the 90’s but rain is in the forecast for the weekend and that will drop the temperatures.

Patrick Cantlay +180 vs. Xander Schauffele
This is a ridiculous price on Cantlay and I’ll take the nearly 2-1 price as I start to make up for last week. Cantlay tied for 3rd last week at the U.S. Open and he has been really good at TPC River Highlands with six top 15 finishes. I know Schauffele won here in 2022 and has four top 20 finishes, but I can’t pass up a big price like this on Cantlay.
Hideki Matsuyama -120 vs. Tony Finau
Matsuyama finished sixth last week at the U.S. Open and he tied for 13th in this event a year ago. I think this course suits him better than it does Finau who has never finished in the Top 10. I’ll lay the small number and take Matsuyama in this golf betting matchup.
Brian Harman -120 vs. Sepp Straka
Harman is third in all-time earnings in this tournament. He has six top 10 finishes in this event since 2010 including a tie for 2nd last year. In his last 22 rounds at TPC River Highlands his average score is 67. Straka disappointed me last week, so I’ll take the chance of going against him here.
Sungjae Im -155 vs. Byeong Hun An
A course that demands precision definitely fits Im who is one of the top players in terms of accuracy and approach. An does not fit this course nearly as well, as his power will be negated. An has not finished in the Top 40 in any of his past five appearances in this tournament. I’ll take Im in this matchup.
Tom Kim -110 vs. Si Woo Kim
I said in the odds preview that Tom Kim is headed in the right direction. He has very good numbers recently in a number of categories including Approach. His putting is starting to come around, as he has gained shots putting in each of his last three events.
