UFC Fight Night Preview and Prediction
February 10, 2022What Will Tom Brady Do in Retirement?
February 10, 2022Israel Adesanya is more than a 2-1 favorite against Robert Whittaker in the main event of UFC 271: Adesanya vs. Whittaker 2 on Saturday night in Houston, Texas. Adesanya beat Whittaker in October of 2019, knocking him out in the second round. Adesanya is 21-1 in his career, while Whittaker is 23-5. The co-main event has Derrick Lewis taking on Tai Tuivasa. Lewis is 26-8 in his career, while Tuivasa is 13-3. UFC 271 will have 13 fights on the card with the five main card bouts on pay-per-view, while the nine preliminary bouts will be split up with coverage on ESPN 2, UFC Fight Pass and ESPN+. Let’s look at some UFC prop picks for the main event between Adesanya and Whittaker and the bout between Derrick Lewis and Tai Tuivasa.
Adesanya vs. Whittaker 2 Prop Picks
There is a lot to like about Adesanya, as he has lost just once in his career, while Whittaker has five losses. These two fought in 2019 and the fight didn’t last long with Adesanya winning in the second round. There is no reason to think that things are going to be much different this time around. If you don’t want to lay the more than 2-1 price on Adesanya, then taking some props could be the way to go. I’ll focus on the rounds and win props.
Fight to go the Distance
Yes -124
No -105
I think the odds on this prop at SugarHouse hold a lot of value. If you look at the rounds prop for the fight you will notice that it is 3.5 with the over at -143. If you think this fight is going to be decided by finish then why not take No at -105? You only get +105 on under 3.5 rounds and you lose another round a half where the fight could be finished. I think the No has value on this prop.
Adesanya to Win by Decision +160
Adesanya to Win by KO, TKO or DQ +115
If you think that Adesanya is going to win this fight then you can get a far better price if play him to win by decision or by KO, TKO or DQ. I don’t know that I want to lay -265 so instead I can take Adesanya to win by decision at +160 and take him to win by KO, TKO or DQ at +115. As long as he doesn’t win by submission, and he has never won by submission in his career, I’ll make money on Adesanya and risk less money. It is worth noting that some of the wise guys are also betting these props and the price is dropping. If the price drops much more it won’t be worth playing.
Lewis vs. Tuivasa Prop Picks
Lewis and Tuivasa are expected to throw big shots right from the start of this fight and the rounds option is listed at just 1.5 rounds. Lewis has 26 wins in his career and 21 of those wins are by TKO/KO, while Tuivasa has 13 wins and 12 of his wins are by TKO/KO. There is not much doubt that one of these two are going to win quickly. You could simply bet the rounds to go under 1.5 but you are laying nearly 2-1. A better choice could be to play the props at FanDuel.
Derrick Lewis to Win in Round 1 +155
Tai Tuivasa to Win in Round 1 +430
If you think this fight will end in the first round, and based on the rounds being listed at 1.5, that is a good possibility, then taking these two props could present some value. You can get Lewis to win in Round 1 at +155 and you can get Tuivasa to win in Round 1 at +430. You could put $100 on Lewis at +155 and $35 on Tuivasa at +430. If Lewis wins the fight in Round 1 then you win $155 and if Tuivasa wins the fight in Round 1 then you win $150.
