April 7, 2022Weekend NBA Picks for Saturday, April 9 and Sunday, April 10
April 7, 2022Alexander Volkanovski is a big favorite on Saturday night to defeat Chan Sung Jung at UFC 273: Volkanovski vs. The Korean Zombie in Jacksonville, Florida. Volkanovski is 23-1 in his career, while Jung is 17-6 in his career, so on paper this looks like a mismatch. This fight is one of four on the main pay-per-view card. There are a total of 13 fights on the card with the other nine on ESPN, ESPN+ and UFC Fight Pass. Let’s look at UFC 273 prop picks for Volkanovski vs. Jung, Sterling vs. Yan and Burns vs. Chimaev.
Volkanovski vs. The Korean Zombie Prop Picks
Volkanovski is listed as a -770 favorite at SugarHouse Sportsbook, so you may want to look at some of the props if you want to bet the favorite. Jung is listed at +550, but it is hard to make much of a case for him winning this fight. If you believe what Volkanovski has said, then you may want to bet the rounds to go under. Volkanovski has said he expects to get a finish within the first three rounds so taking the under 4.5 rounds at +115 is appealing. One of the props at SugarHouse has round by round finishes and you can go under 3.5 rounds and get +180.
Perhaps and even better bet if you think that Volkanovski is going to get the finish is to simply bet that prop. You can get +170 on Volkanovski to win by finish. I think that is the best value in this fight. If you want to take one big flyer you could bet on Volkanovski to win in Round 3 at odds of +1300.
Sterling vs. Yan Prop Picks
The odds on the fight between Aljamain Sterling and Petr Yan have Yan listed as more than a 4-1 favorite in UFC betting odds. This is another fight where you may want to look at the props instead of laying the big money. That being said, Sterling is a talented fighter and not without a chance and you can get him at +340.
Neither Sterling nor Yan is known for having a lot of finishing power, so looking at props in terms of distance could be the way to go. You could simply bet the rounds to go over 4.5 at -130 or you could just bet the fight to go the distance at -118. If you like Yan to win then you are probably better off playing him to win by decision. Instead of laying more than 4-1 you can get +120 on Yan winning by decision.
Burns vs. Chimaev Prop Picks
The main event card at UFC 273 has three fights with substantial favorites, with the third one having Khamzat Chimaev more than a 5-1 favorite against Gilbert Burns. Not many people are going to be going against Chimaev in this fight, but it is not appealing to be laying -500, so the props are where we need to look. Chimaev has been a machine in this career, winning all 10 of his fights and finishing each bout. He has six knockouts and four submissions. Only three of his 10 fights made it into the second round and none made it to the third. Playing this fight to not go the distance seems like a great bet even at odds of -250. If you want to simply bet the rounds you could go under 1.5 and even money.
If you like Chimaev to win this fight and to win it quickly, you could get a much better price by taking him to win in rounds 1-2. That prop is available at SugarHouse and the odds are just -150. Another interesting prop has Chimaev to win by finish and you lay just -182. Considering all 10 of the previous fights for Chimaev have ended with a finish that UFC betting prop seems to have some good value. If you like Burns to win this fight, and not many people do, you are probably just better off taking him at the plus price rather than betting the props.
