UFC 274: Oliveira vs. Gaethje Main Card Odds
Justin Gaethje +145 vs. Charles Oliveira -183
Carla Esparza +168 vs. Rose Namajunas -215
Tony Ferguson +295 vs. Michael Chandler -405
Mauricio Rua +186 vs. Ovince Saint Preux -240
Donald Cerrone -170 vs. Joe Lauzon +135
Current belt holder Charles Oliveira (32-8) puts his 10-fight winning streak on the line in his second title defense which should be a brawl against former interim champ Justin Geathje (23-3). Between them they have 55 professional victories with most of them by stoppage. Oliveira picked up two wins in 2021 in what was a banner year for him. He stopped Michael Chandler in the third-round to win the strap at UFC 262 and successfully defended his title with a submission win over Dustin Poirier at UFC 269 seven months later. Oliveira would rather not let the judges handle the outcome instead doing the work himself. Nine of his wins during his current streak came by stoppage with all but two of his 20 wins inside the Octagon ending early. Gaethje has been just as prolific ending fights early with his win over Chandler last time out the only one of his bouts inside the Octagon going the distance. It was a nice rebound effort after unsuccessfully challenging former belt holder Khabib Nurmagomedov back in 2020. UFC betting sites have the rounds listed at 1.5 with the UNDER at +150. UFC odds opened with Oliveira as a -183 favorite with underdog Gaethje listed at +145.
UFC Prediction: Charles Oliveira -183 / 3rd Round (T)KO
To whet our appetite for the main event we get a women’s battle for the strawweight title in what is actually a rematch. Rose Namajunas (12-4) puts her belt on the line as she looks to even the score against Carla Esparza (19-6). The pair met eight years ago in the finale of the Ultimate Fighter to claim the initial stawweight strap. It’s been a whirlwind since for Esparza who lost her first title defense and dropped four of her next seven fights. However, she’s been on a nice run since with five straight wins including a second-round stoppage of Yan Xiaonan. Namajunas claimed the top spot in the division for a second time with a KO of Zhang Weili at UFC 261. She retained the title six months later with a split decision over Zhang in the rematch. Esparza wants to get the fight to the mat and her wrestling background suggests she can do that. She took down the champ several times in the first bout and if successful she has a path to the upset. UFC betting has Esparza as the +168 underdog with Namajunas at -215.
UFC Prediction: Carla Esparza +168 / Decision
UFC 274: Oliveira vs. Gaethje Prelim Card Odds
Randy Brown -110 vs. Khaos Williams -120
Danny Roberts -110 vs. Francisco Trinaldo -120
Macy Chiasson +179 vs. Norma Dumont -230
Matt Schnell +194 vs. Brandon Royval -250
A stacked card makes up the prelim round with a welterweight clash between Randy Brown (14-4) and Khaos Williams (13-2) highlighting the ticket. Both fighters are on the fringe of the top-15 in the weight class with the winner taking a leap up the rankings. And both come in on a good recent run making this an intriguing battle. Brown made strides last year with wins over Alex Oliveira and Jared Gooden, the former with a first-round submission. Five of his wins have been by sub. A relative newcomer to the promotion, how can you not like Williams with that first name. And his fights have been chaotic with impressive KO’s in his first two bouts. Following his first UFC loss, Williams responded with victories over Matthew Semelsberger and Miguel Baeza. There is plenty of talent in the weight class with this an opportunity for one fighter to make a statement. Current fight odds have Brown as the negative odds underdog at -110.
UFC Prediction: Randy Brown -110 / Decision
UFC 274: Oliveira vs. Gaethje Early Prelim Card Odds
Marcos Rogerio de Lima +120 vs. Blagoy Ivanov -150
Cameron VanCamp +270 vs. Andre Fialho -365
Melissa Gatto +116 vs. Tracy Cortez -146
CJ Vergara +238 vs. Kleydson Rodrigues -315
Lupita Godinez -180 vs. Ariane Carnelossi +143
Journey Newson +124 vs. Fernie Garcia -155
There are six bouts scheduled for the early prelims with Andre Fialho the biggest UFC betting favorite among the bunch at -365 in his welterweight tussle with Cameron VanCamp. It’s a short turnaround for Fialho, who earned a first round stoppage over Miguel Baeza in mid-April. This was a late addition to the fight card. Kleydson Rodrigues is another big favorite on the early ticket with listed UFC odds of -315 for his flyweight bout with CJ Vergara. The two were members of Dana White’s Contender Series class of 2021.
