January 21, 2025NBA Odds – Warriors at Kings Same Game Parlay Recap
The Sacramento Kings stayed hot beating the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday, Jan. 22 for their third straight victory and 10th in 11 outings under interim coach Doug Christie. The Kings trailed 65-48 at halftime but tied the game before the fourth quarter started outscoring the Dubs 37-20 in the third stanza. With Golden State minus Jonathan Kuminga and Draymond Green the NBA betting line had Sacto laying 7.5-points and we backed the home team on our NBA same game parlay. Unfortunately they couldn’t get over the hump settling for a 123-117 triumph.
The Kings got another outstanding performance from Domantas Sabonis, who had 26 points and 18 rebounds. Just a few weeks earlier in Sacramento’s 30-point road win over the Warriors he had 22 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists. Sacramento extended its winning streak over the Warriors to five with four of the games going over the total. We backed the OVER in this matchup, which was the right move.

Following a sluggish start to the game that saw them score 20 points in the first quarter and 48 points in the half, the Kings dominated the final 24 minutes behind what’s been one of the most efficient offenses in the NBA since Christie became coach. DeMar DeRozan scored 19 of his game-high 32 points in the third frame hitting a pair of free throws in the closing seconds to tie the game at 85-85. For the game the Kings had a huge advantage at the stripe making 30 of 32 free throws while the Warriors made nine of their 13 attempts.
Stephen Curry was held to nearly 10 points below his season scoring average netting 14 points on 6 of 11 shooting. He was just 1 of 4 from behind the arc. Despite that the Warriors had the lead late in the fourth quarter until getting outscored 8-0. Andrew Wiggins had a team-high 25 points and the Dubs made 22 of 48 three-pointers. Their edge on the line and shooting 51 percent overall from the field allowed the Kings to pull away down the stretch as the teams went OVER the closing total of 232 points.

We get a Northern California showdown in the second game of the ESPN Wednesday night NBA doubleheader when the Golden State Warriors head up I-80 to the state capital to tangle with the surging Sacramento Kings. In a surprise move the Kings fired Mike Brown in late December with the team riding a five-game losing streak and just 13-18 overall. The dropped their first game under interim Doug Christie then proceeded to rattle of seven straight victories going 5-2 against the NBA betting line at Caesars sportsbook. Both clubs have a game ahead of this matchup but as of now they have the same overall record of 21-20 putting them in a play-in spot in the congested Western Conference standings. The Warriors will be looking to avenge a 30-point home loss when the teams last met earlier this month.

The Warriors are a likely playoff team but they aren’t championship caliber. After a hot start they stumbled and fell below the .500 mark by recently losing four of five games. They’ve also dealt with injuries with Stephen Curry the latest to go down. The Dubs got back to .500 with a crucial road win over Minnesota to conclude a four-game road trip. Playing without Jonathan Kuminga and Draymond Green they held off the Wolves for a 116-115 victory with Curry scoring 31 points and hitting 7 of 12 three-pointers.
A 122-114 win over the NBA-worst Wizards on Saturday got them back over the break-even point at 21-20 but it may have come at a cost. Curry exited the game in the fourth quarter with an ankle injury, though Steve Kerr said he didn’t think the injury was serious. The Warriors failed to cover the 14 point line against the Wiz and they are one of the worst NBA picks vs. the spread at home with a cover rate of only 42.9 percent. And the home dominance the club once had no longer exists. The Warriors are 4-6 SU and 2-8 ATS in their last 10 home contests.
The status of Curry is kind of a big deal since he averages a team-high 23.0 points for a squad that scores 111.4 points a game. While he’s nearing a return we probably won’t see Kuminga in this game. Kuminga is averaging 16.8 points and is the team’s only interior defender with size. And that’s an area opponents have exploited even with the big fella in the lineup. Defending the three-pointer has also been an issue recently with Minnesota and Washington making 47.6 percent of their three-pointers between them.
The coaching change brought the desired results for the Kings, who rattled off seven straight wins after dropping Christie’s debut on Dec. 28. And it wasn’t a fluke with some good teams victimized by the resurgent club. The Kings beat West contenders Dallas and Memphis while also taking down Philadelphia and Boston in the Garden. The streak was halted last week in Milwaukee with the Bucks needing a Giannis Antetokounmpo triple-double to get the win. The Kings returned home and beat Houston, 132-127, on Thursday.
Included in the winning streak was an impressive 129-99 win over the Warriors in the Bay Area, the Kings’ fourth straight in the series. They’ve been one of the most efficient teams in the NBA under Christie ranking fifth in offensive rating and fourth in net rating. That was on display Jan. 5 with the team shooting 52 percent from the field while holding the Warriors to 34 percent from three-point range and forcing 22 turnovers.
The Kings can get you in a variety of ways, too. In the last meeting with the Warriors Domantas Sabonis had 22 points and 13 rebounds and Malik Monk had 26 points and 12 assists. In the Houston game DeMar DeRozan scored 33 points and all five starters had at least 18 points. And they’re arguably better now that leading scorer De’Aaron Fox has returned after missing a handful of games. The Kings are playing a different brand of ball under Christie and I like them as a NBA spread pick.
