February 27, 2024Another loaded slate of college hoops betting is ready to go Wednesday night with a number of intriguing matchups set to go down in the SEC between No. 14 Auburn and No. 5 Tennessee, in the Big 12 between Oklahoma and No. 6 Iowa State, and in the Big East between Providence and No. 7 Marquette. While those heavyweight matchups get the national spotlight, I’ve honed in on a few games worthy of attacking at Caesars Sportsbook with the ultimate goal of cashing in some Hump Day college basketball parlay tickets – SLAM YOUR MAN!!

Tulsa Golden Hurricane vs. UTSA Roadrunners
We split with the Roadrunners in last Wednesday night’s home tilt against South Florida. UTSA ended up cashing as 6-point home dogs in the 66-61 defeat, but the combined score came nowhere close to toppling the closing 155.5-point O/U at Caesars. The low scoring output had much to do with wretched shooting outputs from both teams with the Bulls converting at a 37 percent clip and the Roadrunners failing to even hit 30 percent from the field. A whopping 55 shots were attempted from beyond the arc, but only 13 were converted. The pace was also there for a high scorer with the game playing to 75 possessions. Another fast one is expected in this rematch against Tulsa who clocks in with the Pomeroy Ratings 41st ranked adjusted tempo averaging nearly 71 possessions per game. UTSA clocks in at No. 44 (770.6 PPP) and the teams combined for a barnburner in their first showdown back on January 17 when they dented the board for 185 points.
The Golden Hurricane massacred the Roadrunners in that one 107-78 as 6-point home chalk, so Jordan Ivy-Curry and his mates will take to their home hardwood looking to settle the score. Fresh off taking on two of the best teams in the league and just upsetting North Texas 64-62 as whopping 14-point road dogs, I fully expect UTSA to be locked in and go all-out to tally their first two-game win streak in AAC betting action.
The opening 20 minutes of the first showdown was very competitive with the Golden Hurricane taking a 53-48 lead into halftime with both squads lighting it up from the field. Tulsa would continue its scorching hot ways over the final 20 with P.J. Haggerty leading the way with a game-high 25 points which included a perfect 4-of-4 showing from downtown. UTSA was unable to keep the mojo rising only scoring 30 points the rest of the way. I expect two competent halves to be put forth this time around which should find Steve Henson’s kids in a position to rattle off a second straight dub in a game I expect linemakers will have the game lined around a pick ‘em and the total set in the high 150s to low 160s.

Arizona Wildcats vs. Arizona State Sun Devils
Since losing back-to-back home games against Stanford and Cal in games they went off the board favored to win at Caesars Sportsbook, Bobby Hurley’s Sun Devils have been playing a more competitive brand of ball. Immediately after, they scored a point spread cover (+15.5) in an 82-70 loss at Colorado and then went into Salt Lake City and scored the 85-77 outright win and cover over the Utes as 13-point pups. It then returned home and took Oregon State to the woodshed before getting curb stomped themselves in the first run-in with the Arizona Wildcats; a match they lost 105-60 as 18.5-point McKale Center underdogs. Since then, they split with both Washington schools covering as 2.5-point home dogs in a tough 84-82 overtime loss to the Huskies and following it up with the 73-61 upset of Wazzou as 5-point pups last time out.
Figure Frankie Collins and Co. will be getting upwards of 12 points in this rematch with the Cats who blitzed them six ways to Sunday in the first showdown. The Cats averaged 1.395 points per possession, destroyed ASU from 2-point range (18/43), won the rebounding battle 44-25 (9 OFF), and only turned it over five times en route to hitting the century mark for the seventh time this CBB betting season. So why on this green earth am I recommending a play on ASU plus the points in the hardwood version of the Territorial Cup? Revenge with a bout of home cooking mixed in! Before rattling off three straight wins and covers against Oregon, Utah, and Colorado away from Tucson, Caleb Love and his mates went 1-3 SU and ATS in their first four true road Pac-12 bouts against cellar dwellers Cal, Stanford, and Oregon State with a 73-70 loss also incurred against the Cougars. Arizona State stands 5-4 SU and 6-3 ATS at home with it 3-1 SU and perfect 4-0 ATS the four times it caught points on the college basketball betting lines.
After Zona cruised to the win and cover in a high scorer the first time around, Caesars Sportsbook will undoubtedly be bracing themselves for copious amounts of Wildcats + Over tickets to bombard the market for the rematch. Let’s play it cool and see how high each impost gets before coming over the top to add Arizona State and the Under to our Hump Day night college basketball parlay betting portfolio!
