Wichita State Shockers vs. Tulsa Golden Hurricane
In the past ten meetings between Wichita State and Tulsa, the Shockers have emerged victorious in eight and covered the spread in seven, per the closing CBB odds at Caesars. In the AAC rival’s upcoming matchup Wednesday night, Wichita State will be looking to secure their fourth consecutive win and cover at Tulsa, as they’ve been favored to do so in their last two treks to the Donald W. Reynolds Center. However, this time, the Golden Hurricane has been installed the favored side with it deemed the better team in the W/L department. Despite their better conference record, the Golden Hurricane’s success has been tallied against a weaker in-conference schedule strength (#8) compared to the Shockers’ (#1).
Recently, Wichita State has shown improvement, with a strong performance against FAU and a close hard-fought loss and cover at South Florida. Colby Rogers and his mates also pulled out a home upset of SMU last time out. In last year’s trio of run-ins, the over cashed each time with an average of 149 points scored. This game is likely to continue the trend, as both teams have a fast-paced playing style. Tulsa (#36) has a higher tempo rating according to KenPom, but Wichita State (#77) is not far behind. This is expected to result in a high-scoring game, with linemakers likely to post an over/under of around 150 points. Wichita State’s strong offensive rebounding will give them multiple scoring opportunities, while Tulsa’s ability to force turnovers will lead to easy transition buckets the other way. This game is expected to be an exciting one, with both teams playing aggressively throughout.

Rice Owls vs. Memphis Tigers
With the schedule set to take a turn for the worse in the coming weeks, Jahvon Quinerly and his mates are quickly running out of time to cure its careless ball handling (#245) ways and figure out how to hit the defensive glass (#330). KenPom’s 256th ranked defensive efficiency may just be the perfect solution to their struggles. Luckily, the Owls’ defense is not strong enough to take advantage of Memphis’ turnover-prone ways, as they only force an average of 11.3 turnovers per game, ranking 251st in the nation per Team Rankings. Furthermore, the Owls struggle with offensive rebounding, ranking 153rd, which plays right into the Tigers’ hands. Rice’s defense has also been charitable along the perimeter with it serving up an average of 8.6 made 3-pointers per game, aligning perfectly with the Tigers’ strength of launching 23.4 bombs per game and converting them at a 36 percent rate (#79).
I fully expect Memphis to release their pent-up frustration on Rice, as they have been struggling in AAC play, averaging almost two points fewer than their season average of 73.1 points per game. Despite having a 4-3 record against conference opponents, Rice has only averaged 71.5 points on the road and has seen the under cash twice with an average of 144 points scored. The over/under hit the board at Caesars Sportsbook 155 and was immediately bet down a full point. As the college basketball betting season continues with the heart of conference play, Memphis still appears to be a work in progress, and it’s time for the team to take a hard look at themselves and figure things out – STAT! And what better opponent to do that against than the Owls, who have only averaged 67 points on the road in AAC play. This one’s got blowout written all over it with the combined score threatening but ultimately failing to exceed the impost.
