Week 2 NFL Teaser Best Bets

I guess I overvalued the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 1. Or maybe I undervalued the 49ers. I’m not sure if the Niners are as good as they looked though they got plenty of help from Kenny Pickett and the Steelers. Either way that was my only loss on my three-team teaser, which is little consolation since all bets have to win in order to payout. And it wasn’t even close. Teasing the NFL betting line by six points in favor of the Steelers still didn’t matter since they were routed 30-7. Undeterred by the loss I’ll move forward to Week 2 looking for the best teaser options on the NFL schedule.

The Washington / Arizona game was a classic example of how a teaser works in the bettor’s favor. The line had the Commanders positioned as a 7-point favorite. Buying six points brought the spread down to Washington -1 and they covered the teased line in their 20-16 victory. We didn’t have to tease the total in the Packers / Bears game since they went over the original total of 42 by combining for 58 points in the second-highest scoring game of Week 1. NFL Week 2 Teaser Best Bets

New York Jets at Dallas Cowboys

Opening Line: Jets +9

Teaser Line: Jets +15

I’m not about to write off the New York Jets with Aaron Rodgers done for the year. New York’s futures odds took a big hit when news of Rodgers being done for the year surfaced. And the NFL betting line in their Week 2 game with Dallas saw a sharp increase. Keep in mind that the Jets beat Buffalo in the opener with Rodgers playing only four snaps. Zach Wilson was decent behind center and he gives the club an option they didn’t have with Rodgers. The Jets defense is still among the best in the NFL and wreaked havoc on Josh Allen with three interceptions and five sacks.

I really don’t think Dallas is as good as their 40-0 shellacking of the Giants in Week 1. And I wouldn’t be surprised if the Boys think too highly of themselves while taking the other New York team for granted. Giving the Jets more than two touchdowns on the teased NFL betting line makes backing them a no-brainer with their defense. And to a man the Jets are praising Wilson for his development. I’ll back New York and 15 points in this one.

Baltimore Ravens at Cincinnati Bengals

Opening Line: Ravens +3

Teaser Line: Ravens +9

We didn’t see the new-look passing game in Week 1 the Baltimore Ravens are expected to showcase. Zay Flowers was impressive but Odell Beckham Jr. was non-existent. Instead we saw what’s made the Ravens so successful over the years. They ran the football for 110 yards and three TDs, but the work came at a cost with J.K. Dobbins lost for the year with an injury. Lamar Jackson led the team with 38 yards and threw for 169 yards.

Baltimore’s defense played its usual stifling game holding the Texans to 268 yards without a TD. We’ve seen close games in this series with Cincinnati winning the most recent encounter by a touchdown. And the Bengals will have to work through issues they had in Week 1 with Joe Burrow struggling and the club managing just three points in a loss to Cleveland. Teasing the line to Baltimore +9 makes them my NFL betting pick.

Green Bay Packers at Atlanta Falcons

Opening Total: 40.5

Teaser Total: 34.5

The Green Bay Packers aren’t facing Chicago’s sieve-like defense this week, but Jordan Love looked sharp as the team’s new starter throwing for 245 yards and three touchdowns. Love had the look of a seasoned vet running the offense and a balanced attack kept the Bears guessing on every snap. One negative is that the Pack could be without Aaron Jones, who sustained a hamstring injury in Week 1. A.J. Dillon, though, has proven to be more than capable with the football.

The Falcons displayed a strong running game in their opener getting 131 yards combined from Tyler Allgeier and Bijan Robinson. Allgeier scored twice on the ground and Robinson had a nifty TD reception. Both teams have playmakers on offense and I can see this game going OVER the teased total 34.5. The teams combined to average more than 60 points in the last six meetings making this an NFL best bet.
