MLB Same Game Parlay Picks, Odds & Predictions – Wednesday, May 8
May 7, 2024BetMGM Optimistic for Online Sports Betting Market Share
May 8, 2024A strong field is assembled for this week’s Wells Fargo Championship which takes place one week before the PGA Championship. It is a Signature Event and that means a $20 million dollar prize purse. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is still waiting for his first child to be delivered so he is not in the field this week, but all of the other top PGA players are. World No. 2 Rory McIlroy is listed as the favorite at Caesars with odds of +700. He is followed by Xander Schauffele at +1000, Wyndham Clark at +1400 and Patrick Cantlay at +1600. McIlroy will be looking to win this event for the fourth time in his career, while Clark will be looking to defend his title. Let’s look at Wells Fargo Championship odds and picks.

Venue: Quail Hollow is a par 71 that measures 7,558 yards. It was renovated after last year’s event so there will be new tees, greens and bunkers. The Green Mile (holes 16, 17 and 18) are considered among some of the toughest holes on the PGA Tour.
Last Year: Wyndham Clark won by four shots and set a tournament record in the process. He started with a two-shot lead over Xander Schauffele and proceeded to lose it after seven holes but then Clark got hot, playing his last 11 holes in four under par. Harris English and Tyrrell Hatton tied for third, while Tommy Fleetwood and Adam Scott tied for fifth.

Favorite
Rory McIlroy +700
It was yet another favorite not named Scheffler to lose last week. Whether you had Si Woo Kim or Jordan Spieth as the favorite didn’t matter, as neither was in contention. McIlroy is listed as the favorite this week and that means he is a no play for me. Golf betting favorites other than Scheffler have been a disaster this season and even though Rory has done really well in this event, I can’t take him as the favorite.
Golf Picks
Wyndham Clark +1400
Clark is the defending champion and there is no reason he can’t win this event again. There have been quite a few players recently who have defended their titles, so it could happen again this week. Clark got his third win at Pebble Beach earlier this season and he is clearly one of the top players in the world. He is one of the few players who has actually challenged Scheffler this season. I’ll take a shot with him this week.
Max Homa +2200
Homa has played well in this event in the past, winning it in 2019 and he finished 8th last year. He started the year a bit slowly but he is rounding into form. He has gained on Approach and putting in five of his last six starts. I expect him to be in the mix this week.
Cameron Young +2500
Young is still looking for his first PGA Tour win and maybe it will be this week. He should do well on the short par 4’s and par 5’s this week. He ranks highly in a number of categories including Approach. He has played well on tough courses in the past and he is very familiar with North Carolina, having gone to Wake Forest.
Akshay Bhatia +4000
There is no question that Bhatia is one of the rising stars in golf. He is in the top 20 on the PGA Tour in Total Driving and he grew up in Wake Forest. He has won on the PGA Tour this season on a difficult TPC San Antonio course and I think he will play well this week and he could be in contention.Check out the Wells Fargo Championship odds at Caesars.
