February 17, 2025Wisconsin Badgers at Purdue Boilermakers Same Game Parlay Picks Recap
Wisconsin secured a huge 94-84 victory over No. 7 Purdue, marking its fourth straight win. John Tonje led the Badgers with a career-high 32 points, including 22 in the second half. His 10-point scoring burst midway through the second period gave Wisconsin a lead it never surrendered. Max Klesmit added 17 points and six assists, helping the Badgers overcome the loss of backup guard Kamari McGee, who was ejected late in the first half following a ridiculous Flagrant 2 foul called by a herd of overzealous zebras playing to the emotions of a packed Mackey Arena.
Purdue suffered its second straight defeat despite a career-best 30 points from Trey Kaufman-Renn whom Wisconsin’s defense had absolutely no answer for. Fletcher Loyer contributed 15 points, while Braden Smith dished out 12 assists. However, the Boilermakers struggled to find a consistent second scoring option beyond Kaufman-Renn over the final 20 minutes. A key moment came when Tonje converted a four-point play with 15:48 remaining, sparking an 11-0 run that propelled the visitors into complete control. The Wisconsin Badgers were highly efficient in the second half, shooting 72% (18-for-25) from the field, 50% (6-for-12) from deep, and committing zero turnovers.
While both legs of this same game parlay looked to be in jeopardy early on with the recommended side trailing 35-26 with just over four minutes remaining in the first half, the Badgers outscored the Boilermakers 10-2 from that point forward to pull within 37-36 and cover the first half spread. Wiscy took full control just over four minutes into the second half, seizing its first lead and never looking back. The Badgers silenced the sold-out crowd on their way to an impressive 10-point victory. While we ended up splitting both legs due to a high-scoring second half that saw 105 combined points hit the board, we cashed the main bet on the college basketball odds with Wisconsin. The Badgers are now within reach of their first regular-season Big Ten title since the 2021-22 season.
Wisconsin Badgers at Purdue Boilermakers Same Game Parlay Picks
Saturday afternoon’s same game parlay picks take us to Mackey Arena in West Lafayette, IN where the No. 7 Purdue Boilermakers will look to bounce back from their third Big Ten loss of the CBB betting season against the No. 16 Wisconsin Badgers. Greg Gard’s troops ran their win streak to three straight last weekend after going into Iowa City and scoring the win and cover against the Hawkeyes as multiple possession road chalk. Meanwhile, Matt Painter sat in dismay on the sideline watching his Boilers come out on the wrong end of a 75-73 defeat to Michigan in Ann Arbor Tuesday night costing them first place atop the Big Ten standings.
The Boilermakers swept each of last year’s regular season meetings with the Badgers, but fell to Wiscy in the semis of the B1G tournament. Though 6-4 straight up (SU), Purdue only stands 4-5-1 against the spread (ATS) in the last 10 overall meetings. Caesars Sportsbook will have Purdue installed around 5-point home favorites on the college basketball betting odds for this lone regular season skirmish with the total set in the mid to high-140s.

Wisconsin Badgers
Trailing by a bucket at the break (39-37), the Badgers matched their point tally in the first half but buckled down defensively limiting Iowa to 24 second half points to score the impressive 74-63 win and cover as 5.5-point road favorites. In doing so, Wisconsin moved to 19-5 SU for the year and 9-4 in conference play which finds them within shouting distance of securing the program’s first regular season title since 2015 two games off the pace with seven to play.
John Tonje contributed 11 points during a 16-4 closing run by the Badgers, leading them to their third consecutive win. He finished 5-of-11 from the field and made 9-of-10 free throws, including eight straight in the final seven minutes. Wisconsin’s defense stifled Iowa down the stretch, holding them to just one field goal over the final seven-plus minutes while limiting the Badgers to 8-of-27 shooting in the second half.
Purdue Boilermakers
The Boilers can’t help but think they let one get away at Michigan. Try as he did, Braden Smith simply just didn’t have it in him to lead Purdue to the last second win after his 3-point shot at the buzzer failed to get home propelling the Wolverines to the huge bucket win earning them bragging rights atop the conference standings. The loss was a tough one to swallow considering Purdue led 48-38 with just under 15 minutes remaining.
Michigan ultimately tied it with five-plus minutes to go with neither team leading by more than four points the rest of the way. Smith, Trey Kaufman-Renn and Fletcher Loyer combined for 61 of the Boilers 73 total points with the starting five not receiving a single tally from a bench player. Foul trouble and lack of getting to the free throw line also played key roles in the defeat—Purdue only got to the stripe eight times compared to the Wolverines taking 26 freebies.

With each team currently ranked within the Pomeroy Ratings Top 15, college basketball bettors are likely in store for a good one Saturday afternoon. This matchup pits two of the more efficient offenses in the country up against one another with Wisconsin ranked ninth and Purdue eighth. Each defense has proven to be frugal as well with the Badgers serving up 70 points per game (#128) and the Boilermakers just under 68 (#88). Combined, the teams have cashed 28 over tickets through 49 played games.
While I’m not thrilled with the 3-ball being such a prominent part of the Badgers’ offense, ranked 17th in 3-point rate, Purdue has shown vulnerability to the deep shot, with their defense ranking 296th in defensive 3-point rate. Looks will be there for Wiscy’s sharpshooters to take advantage of. Additionally, I like the Badgers’ edge on the defensive glass (#50), with Steven Crowl and Nolan Winter likely to limit Purdue’s second-chance scoring opportunities. Given all this, I’ll take the points and lean toward a higher-scoring game, especially since the over has hit in eight of the last 10 matchups, with the last three averaging 148 points per game.
