Finally, Missouri Moves the Ball Forward on Sports Betting
March 22, 2023NHL Betting – Thursday, March 23 Parlay Picks
March 22, 2023And then there was one. A potential Week 6 matchup between undefeated teams was thwarted when the Houston Roughnecks were upset by Seattle leaving the DC Defenders as the lone team without a loss. DC improved to 5-0 SU and ATS with an 8-point win over St. Louis. Those teams were also part of my two football parlay pick losses sending me to another woeful 1-2 week. At least it wasn’t a total loss when Vegas and Orlando easily cashed the OVER. After scoring a total of 49 points in their first four games the Guardians erupted in their 35-32 loss to Vegas in a battle of winless clubs. We can now say without a doubt that Orlando is the worst team in the XFL.
Being the worst at anything isn’t something to be proud of and as professionals the Guardians will do their best to get a win. They have a tough matchup against the red hot Sea Dragons, who extended their SU and ATS winning streak to three with a 21-14 win over Houston as a 3-point dog. The teams open the betting week on Saturday with Orlando once again a huge underdog on the XFL betting line at BetRivers sportsbook. The opening line of 9.5 points matches the largest we’ve seen in any game this season, which first happened in Orlando’s Week 3 game against Arlington. The Guardians covered in a narrow 10-9 loss.
Week 6 XFL Parlay Picks
We don’t get the matchup of unbeatens we anticipated but the Houston-DC game remains the marquee battle on the Week 6 schedule. The Roughnecks are catching points for the first time opening as a 2.5-point dog. They earned payouts in each of their first four games before losing outright in Week 5. DC is clearly the class of the North Division building a two-game lead over St. Louis with their second win in three weeks over the Battlehawks. Points have been tough to come by for Arlington with just 12 last week giving them four straight games with fewer than 14 points. The Renegades were able to win two of those contests while cashing the UNDER in all four. Now let’s see if we can make some money on our Week 6 XFL picks and parlays.
Seattle Sea Dragons at Orlando Guardians
Led by XFL passing leader Ben DiNucci, the Sea Dragons have an efficient offense averaging a league high 355.8 yards. Points have been a little tougher to come by with last week’s effort just the second time they’ve produced more than 20 in a game. However, I don’t expect scoring to be an issue this week against the XFL’s worst defensive unit. The Guardians allow an average of over 30 points and were lit up by Luis Perez in last week’s loss. Perez was 20 of 28 for 269 yards and three TDs. It was the fourth time in five games the Guardians yielded at least 30 points. The return of Quinten Dormady seemed to ignite the offense as well. Dormady had a strong game completing 22 of 25 for 256 yards with two TDs. And Seattle’s defense isn’t going to scare anyone putting the total of 42.5 well within reach.
XFL Parlay Pick: OVER 42.5
Houston Roughnecks at DC Defenders
I’ve said since Week 2 that Houston is the best team in the league. They have a chance to prove me right on Monday night going against the unbeaten Defenders. Despite last week’s upset loss to Seattle, the Roughnecks continue to boast the XFL’s top ranked defense while also scoring the most points. Brandon Silvers has been efficient behind center with his 1,189 passing yards second in the league. He also has the most TD passes with 11. What will separate the teams is defense. Houston gives up just 15.2 points per game and leads the XFL with 19 sacks and eight interceptions. DC will counter with the best ground game led by Abram Smith, who rushed for 218 yards and three TDs on 23 carries last week. As a team DC averages 174 rushing yards while no other club averages more than 94 yards. Stop the run and Houston wins the game.
XFL Parlay Pick: Houston +2.5
St. Louis Battlehawks at Vegas Vipers
Vegas earned its first win of the season last week, but the celebration will be short lived with a matchup against the St. Louis Battlehawks. If not for two one-score losses to DC the Battlehawks would be considered among the best in the XFL. I guess in the end things have a way of evening out since St. Louis probably should’ve lost its opener. A.J. McCarron is having a decent season and could put up big numbers against a Vegas defense that ranks last giving up more than 366 yards per game, nearly 60 yards more than the next worst, which just happens to be St. Louis. There’s a good chance we see points but a better chance St. Louis is the XFL pick against the spread.
XFL Parlay Pick: St. Louis -3
