April 24, 2024The PGA Tour heads to Louisiana this week for the only team event, the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. We won’t see World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler in the field, so it could be a good week to bet against the favored team, as golf betting favorites, other than Scheffler, lose on a regular basis. The field for this week’s tournament is a good one with four of the world’s top ten golfers in the field led by Rory McIlroy who is teamed up with Shane Lowry. Seven of the world’s top 17 players are in the field. This event will also see multiple brothers teaming up, as Matt and Alex Fitzpatrick will be joined by Nicolai and Rasmus Hojgaard and Parker and Pierceson Coody. The defending champions of this event are Davis Riley and Nick Hardy. Let’s look at Zurich Classic of New Orleans odds and picks.

Favorite
Patrick Cantlay / Xander Schauffele +500
Based on the numbers it makes sense to have these two favored, but we know that golf betting favorites other than Scheffler don’t win that often. Cantlay is having a very disappointing season and I can’t seem to figure him out. Schauffele is also another frustrating player to back, as he continually disappoints. It would be just like these two to frustrate me again and win, but I am not taking them.
Golf Picks
Rory McIlroy / Shane Lowry +700
I think these two should be favored. They will enjoy playing with each other and I expect a great week from them. They are two veteran players of Ryder Cup action and they can play off each other’s strengths. I would be surprised if they are not in contention on Sunday.
Will Zalatoris / Sahith Theegala +1000
I know you will see a lot of energy out of these two and they have the talent to win this event. They are two players hungry for a win and they have a ton of talent. I think they will complement each other well this week and I expect to see them high on the leaderboard on Sunday.
Tom Hoge / Maverick McNealy +2500
This pairing jumped off the board at me from the start. Hoge is playing well this season and he played well in this event a year ago with Harris English. Hoge is one of the best on the PGA Tour this season in strokes Gained: Approach. McNealy is also playing well and I can see Hoge putting the team in position and McNealy cashing in with the putts.
Keith Mitchell / Joel Dahmen +4000
Mitchell has finished in the top 20 in five of his last seven events and he was 6th in last year’s Zurich Classic. Dahmen is playing better of late and he is very good with his short irons. With Mitchell driving it well this team could be dangerous throughout the week.
Nick Taylor / Adam Hadwin +4000
This team finished 2nd a year ago and had a final round 63 which was the best in the field. They are very capable of playing well again this week. Taylor has three wins since 2020 and he is looking like the top Canadian on the PGA Tour. Check out the latest Zurich Classic of New Orleans odds at Caesars.
