Week 5 NFL Parlay Picks
October 5, 20222022 MLB Playoff Preview
October 6, 2022The 2022 League of Legends World Championship will start in earnest on Friday, October 7 with the Main Event. The last four teams in the tournament were determined after the Play-In Stage concluded on Wednesday, and there weren’t really any surprises. Coming into the Group Stage, the big question is whether Korean and Chinese teams will continue to dominate as many analysts don’t have a single Western team making it to the knockout rounds.
2022 League of Legends Worlds Day 1 Betting Odds
Cloud9 -150
Fnatic +120
The Main Event will start with a bang as Cloud9 will square off against Fnatic. This is a crucial game for both teams as it will be hard to make it out of a group with T1 and EDward Gaming. The key to the game will be whether or not Fnatic’s bottom lane of Upset and Hylissang can win their lane and then carry the team in the mid game. Upset had a 25.0 KDA in five games during the Play-In Stage, but Hylissang wasn’t at his best even though he got to take power pick Maokai twice. That makes C9 the play after we saw this team win the LCS in the Summer Split.
DWG KIA -250
G2 Esports +200
This is one of the most exciting international rivalries in League of Legends. G2 Esports knocked off DWG KIA on its way to finishing runner-up at Worlds in 2019, and DWG KIA returned the favor on its way to winning Worlds in 2020. Although DWG KIA are the No. 3 seed out of Korea, there’s a reason they are favored per the League of Legends betting odds in this game. Top laner Nuguri has now had time to get reacquainted with his old team, and ShowMaker and Canyon will be out to prove they are still world class players.
100 Thieves -220
CTBC Flying Oyster +180
People are dismissing CTBC Flying Oyster just because of their name. However, we have seen PCS teams thrive at international events, especially in the early going. CTBC knocked off favorites PSG Talon and Beyond Gaming to win their region, and bottom laner Shunn seems to be a young prodigy. Mission is a superb Taliyah player in the mid lane, and that could be problematic for 100 Thieves.
JD Gaming -800
Evil Geniuses +475
The biggest favorite by the Esports betting odds on Day 1 is JD Gaming. The LPL Summer Split champions are one of the overall favorites to win Worlds, and they are a heavy favorite to win Group B. They have a star-studded lineup with an elite jungler in Kanavi, and the bottom lane issues have finally been fixed. Evil Geniuses were impressive in their sweep of MAD Lions to reach the Main Event, but this is not a strong team with Kaori in the bottom lane. Kaori has made some real missteps, so it’s hard to like EG’s chances with him in the starting lineup.
T1 -120
EDward Gaming +100
These two former world champions will play in the game of the day. T1 are slight favorites to win Group A ahead of EDward Gaming even though EDG won Worlds last year and has the same lineup. Viper was phenomenal on EDG’s way to the title last year, but the current meta doesn’t suit the play style of EDG. T1 should be able to get the victory as long as Gumayusi isn’t outclassed by his bottom lane counterpart.
Gen. G -330
Royal Never Give Up +265
Some of the luster has worn off Royal Never Give Up after they significantly struggled in the Play-In Stage. They were seen as the most talented team in the Play-In Stage by a mile, but they fell to DRX and dropped a game to Detonation FocusMe. Their understanding of the meta and their team fighting weren’t great, and RNG seems to be depending on Wei and GALA too much. Gen. G are a much more well-rounded team though, and they might have the best bottom lane in the world with Ruler and Lehends. Additionally, Chovy is out to prove he is the best mid laner alive after years of hype.
