NFL Week 1 Totals Picks
September 6, 2022BetRivers September Football Bonus Code
September 7, 2022There are a ton of interesting matchups this NFL Week 1, which include a few important divisional contests between hated foes. There also seem to be a ton of heavy road favorites, which can sometimes be deceiving when looking at the opening spreads.
So, it’s never a bad idea to buy a few points if you’re feeling uncertain about the outcomes. Having that insurance could very well be the difference between cashing that slip or going home empty handed.
BetMaker previews the Week 1 slate and gives four teaser picks to get your season started on the right foot.
4-Team NFL Teaser Picks
All odds provided by BetRivers sportsbook.
San Francisco 49ers (-7) vs. Chicago Bears
The 49ers enter as big road favorites in Week 1 against the Bears, and for good reason. They’ll return the majority of a roster that was three points away from making the Super Bowl in 2021. They’ll also square up against a Bears team that’s struggled of late.
Chicago has gone 22-27 over the last three seasons, and quarterback Justin Fields has been uninspiring thus far in his young career. Now, he has the athleticism to change that in 2022, but at this point, we’ll go with what we’ve seen on the field.
In San Francisco, there is also youth entering the quarterback competition. While the team returns last year’s starter Jimmy Garoppolo, the 49ers will turn to youngster Trey Lance under center. That change could see some speedbumps over the first few weeks of the year, which is why we’ll buy a few points on the road, but San Francisco should be talented to leave with a win.
A six-point teaser brings this spread down to -1, meaning the Niners just need to get the W.
New Orleans Saints (-5.5) vs. Atlanta Falcons
The Saints will battle division rival Atlanta in what looks to be a mismatch on paper. New Orleans returns Jameis Winston at quarterback, Alvin Kamara (pending suspension) in the backfield, and veterans Michael Thomas and Jarvis Landry at wideout.
While that lineup won’t necessarily strike fear into the majority of its opponents, they should have the upper hand against Atlanta. The Falcons are in transition, moving on from quarterback Matt Ryan. Enter Marcus Mariota under center after playing in a backup role with the Raiders. He’ll have limited resources when it comes to playmakers at the skill positions, which will limit production against a strong Saints defense.
With a six-point teaser, this line becomes +0.5 for the Saints. A New Orleans win will land a cover.
Baltimore Ravens (-7) vs. New York Jets
The Ravens will be a team on a mission in 2022 after disappointing last season. Much of that disappointment stemmed from injuries, but a powerful rushing attack appears to be full strength heading into the opener.
Baltimore will have MVP candidate Lamar Jackson leading the way at quarterback, and that run game should travel well to New York. The Jets, meanwhile, could be missing Zach Wilson for the opener and they have a way to go on the both sides of the ball. New York finished 28th in scoring on offense and dead last in points allowed on defense last year.
The Ravens should be able to cover this spread outright, but with Baltimore playing on the road, we’ll play it safe. A six-point teaser drops this spread down to -1.
Green Bay Packers (-1.5) vs. Minnesota Vikings
The Packers travel to Minnesota to face the division rival Vikings. These teams don’t like one another, but that’s particularly true on the Minnesota side. The Vikings have struggled against Aaron Rodgers, having lost six straight to the Pack and nine of the last 10.
Green Bay has landed four wins in their last five trips to Minnesota, including last year’s 28-10 win. They’ve outscored the Vikings 62-17 in those last two trips to US Bank Stadium, a trend we see continuing on Sunday.
The Vikings will certainly have playmakers on offense, but quarterback Kirk Cousins has disappointed when playing in big games. With the spread sitting at just -1.5, a six-point teaser will give Green Bay some points to play with at +4.5.
Back the Pack to cover.
